How often do you have your babies/children's picture taken?

Ask:
I was WAY good with my older four..but the last two have slowed down a lot! Part of that is the fact that with my digital camera and modern technology (yes, it has changed that much over the years!), I am able to know when I get a good snapshot, etc. I take pictures with my own camera constantly, and I frame a good bit of them!!! That has kind of taken the place of the every few months cycle that I did with my oldest four. However, I DO still do it at least yearly.
I was shocked to find out at Christmas time that the baby I keep, who is now almost 14 months old, had NEVER had his taken!!! It was one of those things that always kept getting shoved to the next week...the next week....!! So, as a gift to his parents for Christmas, I took him in and had it done!!! They loved it!! It got me wondering, though, am I the oddball? How often do YOU take yours in for professional photos???
Answer:

When they were babies a lot. Now I try for once a year. I don't have a good camera so will have to look for one.
Answer:

Until I moved to Iowa, I would get them taken every 6 months. Now, I do not. I have been trying to make sure I get their pictures taken by themselves with my camera. The baby has not gotten as many professional pictures taken as the older ones...
Answer:

Once a year for professional portraits...except for this last year when we had my sister take pictures and framed a couple that we like (she's taken photography classes). We also take digital pictures on a fairly regular basis.
Answer:

well we took ds in at 1 month and we talked about doing it at 3mo then at 6mo and so on but right now it's not looking good. I have taken so many at home with my own camera that i'm not that worried about it i don't guess.
Answer:

I try for 2 or 3 times a year, but am OK as long as I get one at Christmas!
Answer:

My oldest got his done every 3 months or so his first year and then maybe twice a year after til he started preschool and now big school because they do it 2 times a year for me. My middle one was very difficult and didn't cooperate well, so there are less of him, and now he's in preschool and gets 2 a year (he does much better without me there!) My youngest is maybe 2 a year also. It seems to get to be less all the time! We usually do a family portrait once a year, though.
Answer:

Okay, I have never been good about that!! Now my poor 7th child!!! Once a year for sure!
Answer:

When they were little ,maybe a couple a year?

I made a point of getting a group photo done (usually in the fall before they jacked up their prices for Christmas). This was done as a record for each of my children ,but also to send to family away and to give to Grandparents.

I did have a professional(Sears/Walmart) shot done for every child on their first birthday also and for each birthday till they entered school.

What's really neat is to get a photo lined up at these places for other special times. When a family member was aging , and we were not sure about their continued health, we had a shot quickly arranged and done with visiting grandchildren from out of town.
On another occaison, we knew a family member was on a down hill slide but still looking good, we arranged a shot with the first grandchild of one of the children.

A good suggestion , if your church celebrates an occasion like a First Communion, book an appointment the day before and get some shots done , they are memorable and the little girls love to have an additional occasion to wear their dress.

If you have matching outfits for your kids , these look so cute when they are older. One of my neices went to Disney World and her parents bought her a Snow White dress, she had her kindergarten picture done in it.

If it's not too crazy, try a picture one year just before Halloween with them all in their costumes.

If you talk to them about when their down times (Sears/Walmart) are, you can bring in your own props, for me it was a small wooden sleigh one year , along with some Christmas memorabilia from when I was a child(a book and a toy) to go in the photo.

If, a grandparent has saved a special piece of clothing, i.e. a christening gown. It is great to have a photo done, just remember you don't need to do it on the day of the event but some time shortly before of after.

Hope some of these suggestions help.
Answer:

I agree, when they were babies, to much. Now I get an indi on the Birthday...sometimes one together, it just depends. And then always one together at Christmas. So, three times a year....???
