Another tax question??

Ask:
I am starting a new WAH job and I have to have a IBM compatible computer. All we had was Macs. My dh bought me a laptop yesterday. Can I put the receipt with my tax papers for next year. Can it be considered a business expense?
Answer:

It should be considered a work related expense. Make sure to keep all your reciepts together related to this WAH business. If you have a room that would specifically be used for this and only this, you could even write off a portion of your house payment, rent, taxes, etc for this too.
Good luck!
Answer:

I bought a laptop last year for my work and wrote it off in my taxes this year. Very simple (thanks to Turbotax), and it added about $20 or $30 to my refund, so yeah for that!
Answer:

Yes, you should be able to include that. You should also be able to include other expenses like milage to and from your pickup location. On a side note, if you need a good accountant to help you find all your home business deductions, my dh is a CPA in Mankato and would be happy to help you out!
Answer:

Just so you know, when my accountant added my computer in, it was for deprecation. So yes, it counts, you have to put the use so and it depreciates over the years.
Answer:

Don't forget about the software. Kim's right, I started to look into daycare way back when I had one child and I got help right away.
