Ask:
First off, I am a very honest person who normally follows every rule to the "T".
But I must confess that I was a bit dishonest. Okay, I guess you're either honest or dishonest, so I'll say it: I was dishonest. I had these really great $1 coupons for toothbrushes. Well, Walmart just happened to carry that brand. The cheapest toothbrushes were 93 cents. The cheapest brand was EXEMPT on the coupon. In the past, I have used the coupon to get a free toothbrush. The first two times I used the coupon, I didn't read the fine print, and didn't know I was being dishonest.
But then, I did figure it out, and used it anyway. I know, dishonest, right? Well, I got busted this weekend by a cashier at Walmart. She said, "Ma'am, I just can't give you a dollar off of a 93 cent toothbrush." I could have just melted into the floor.
So, there's my confession. I cheated Walmart. It wasn't right. There, I feel better.
Have you done anything dishonest to save money?
Answer:
I'm laughing now b/c I thought from the title you were going to say you outright stole something....
Yes, I have done dishonest things to save. Once I stole toilet paper from my job (just 1 roll) until payday. A few times I've swiped a few sheets of computer paper from work. Probably more things like that too...And yes I have tried to cheat on coupons.
Answer:
I try pretty hard not to do that now, but I have in the past. I have been under charged for things and had things that were not wrung up. Now when it happens, less with newer registers, I try to remember to point it out. I have driven back to the store to pay for things that I didn't get charged for now.
Answer:
I should have had a disclaimer for this thread. I am IN NO WAY condoning dishonesty or cheating any company out of anything. I just had to get it off my chest.
Answer:
I have taken computer paper from work when I was really broke and needed it for school. I am usually pretty honest however. I work in law enforcement! Also I want my kids to be good people so I try to set a good example for the most part, but nobody is perfect!

Once I was shopping in Walmart with dh and the boys who were sitting in the cart. I had picked out a whole bunch of work out pants to try on, decided on a pair to buy anyway we got home and I noticed there were another pair of pants (different) in the bag. Further conversation with dh he said they were in the cart when he was unloading in the car, so he threw them in a bag thinking nothing of it. Obvisously one of the boys was sitting on it and neither of us had noticed in the line. The bad part was the walmart was a decent drive and I never got around to returning them. I even ended up wearing them after a couple of months. I know shame shame.
Other than that if I know a coupon isnt any good I wont try to pass it off at least not on purpose.
Answer:
I am also guilty of using my job as my personal stationery supplier, and request files, paper and pens for my use at home.
However I am also guilty of lying so to speak, if someone "wants" to borrow money from me I am "broke" for the rest of the month. I find it easier to tell someone I dont have any money to borrow them than the truth of I dont want to borrow them the money. Cant handle people borrowing money as they have spent the rest on stupid things.
Answer:
I tell my dh I'm broke all the time! Unless he has a REALLY good reason for needing money, I won't give it to him.
I take stuff from work all the time too. I work in a kitchen and if I'm slicing deli ham, I might take a lb home for myself. hehe I've been known to take the yogurt home too if they are gonna toss it, its still good! We take alot of leftovers home too, sometimes I'll get a whole meal out of what they were gonna throw out. We all joke about 'grocery shopping' at work.

Ok I have looked at this thread for a few days now and felt so guilty so I am going to share....I am always the one to point out if I am not charged for something, forgot to pay gas remembered 2 days later went back paid them, found 100.00 in floor at Walmarts turned it in, My husband almost died over that one--but any way hes always saying just shut up and don't say nothing, well we were in walmarts and the girl didn't ring up our one weedeater $150.00, ok I said nothing, Low and behold we get to the door and the lady checks our reciept to mark it and its not there --then I lie!!(OMG) I say oh its not charged?? I didn't notice , so I go pay for it. I wanted to crawl under a rock. This is yet another reason I tell him that I am honest and don't lie I am no good at it and get caught! Besides the fact its wrong!!!! There I got it off my chest!
Answer:
Well.... I use Pampers pull up coupons on Pampers diapers. My thinking on that is they put the coupons in the diaper boxes but you need the diapers and they are the same company so I think it's not so wrong... I don't know.
One time we had a case of pop under our cart at Walmart and forgot to tell the cashier and got it for free... I did feel bad but didn't go in to pay for it so.... I feel so guilty now!
But, on a good note, I did call Adelphia cable after I cancelled HBO and they didn't take it off my tv. I called to tell them I'm not paying for it but it's on my TV and the girl was confused she couldn't believe I would call since I wasn't charged. I felt good about that one... I feel bad about the pop now!!!
