Hello there I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for helping me get through my son's recovery of having his tonsils out.... (other then alcohol for me ) He doesn't want to eat anything and I am going nuts trying to make him drink water... he got sick during the night and is afraid he will get sick if he eats anything.. the doctor sends home this note must drink 6-8 glasses of water a day..???? RIGHT!!! I can' t even get him to drink one!!!!
Answer:

No advice, but you are scaring me. On the 12th, two of my children will have their tonsils out. Please give me some advice after you are done with the recovery!!

All I can offer is to pray for your sanity!!
Answer:

Try popsicles. Pedialyte has popsicles as well but I don't know how they taste.

If I remember right the worst day was post op day 4, scab falls off and it's sore again.

If your hospital doesn't keep your child overnight check on him/her throughout the night. Look for excessive swallowing-sign of bleeding.

And a drink before bed works for Mom too, lol.
Answer:

slushies/icees were the best thing I found when 2 of my 3 had theirs out at the same time. The fluid intake was the most worrisome part for me, and that's something they'd actually drink. They weren't real big on popsicles and such, cause opening their mouths wasn't high on their list
Answer:

How about making up smoothies? That way they get the nutrition (even bran, if you want) and it's cooling to their throat.
Answer:

I liked all of those things when I had mine out. If you make a milkshake you could add some ovaltine for vitamins. Also talk to the doctor about pain relief... obviously what was suggested is not working.

Yesterday went a lot better. THANK YOU FOR THE ADVICE EVERYONE.. I am hoping every day will get better.. He did eat some chicken noodle soup... the problem is he is REALLY HUNGRY and the stuff he can eat he doesn't want... I did make some slushes for him so that has been working also. THANK YOU !!!
