Ask:
Too bad it's not in the morning. I feel sick all day long. I never had MS with my girls. I just want to crawl into bed and sleep all day. Does anyone know what i can do to feel better? What has worked? I know they say stay away from greasy food, but pizza is the only thing that sounds tempting to eat.
Answer:
Congratulations! And I'm so sorry to hear about the morning sickness.
The only thing that stayed down for me was spicy Chinese food. I think my body thought it was so spicy going down, it didn't want it making a return trip. You'll have to find what works best for you.
Even if nothing works, take comfort in the thought that active morning sickness is a sign that all those wonderful pregnancy hormones are swirling around in your body and all is well with the little one inside you. At least, that is what they used to tell me.
Answer:
Preggie pops/drops worked wonders for me. If I can find any leftovers I'll PM ya - you can have them!
Answer:
I drank Ginger Ale and ate Club Crackers. Although you don't feel like eating, try to keep something in your tummy. It made me feel better. I had it all day also. Hope you get through this part soon!
Answer:
I wish I had a sure-fire suggestion for you. I was a big sufferer. I kept food down, so it wasn't severe enough to require meds, but it was bad enough to want to crawl into a hole. I can only tell you what takes the edge off:
rest, rest, rest. Don't lie on your back - side felt better, to me.
Saltines - I dislike them, but they did help.
Small amts of protein - peanut butter crackers, etc.
Keep food in your tummy. Don't let it get empty.
water, water, water
fruits like melons, esp. watermelon
LEMON DROPS - Realemon makes some, and they're in the candy aisle. I actually slept w/ them in my mouth at times.
Chocolate ice cream. Don't know why, but it did help. Good excuse, too!
I hope you get over it soon! Some people swear by the seabands, sold at places like Walgreens for about $9. I didn't think they helped, but when I took them off, I did feel worse. I did take them off at night, though!
Answer:
I had "all day sickness" with two of my three pregnancies. Mine was severe enough to require meds and hospitalization. That said when I could eat I ate what sounded good at the time, no matter how weird. My doctor also recommended this practice. The theory being that if it sounds good maybe your brain will convince your stomach to hang on to it. Liquids are very important, again, no matter what kind. Dehydration makes you feel so much worse. Hope it stops soon.
Answer:
I feel for you. I had all day morning sickness with both my pregnancies and although it was almost exclusively just nausea, it was still miserable. It is a good sign of a healthy pregnancy though.
Try to always keep a little something in your tummy by eating small meals every few hours. I know they tell you to stay away from greasy foods, but honestly I pretty much had to stick with what looked appetizing at the time...regardless of what it was. One of my problems was that foods were never appetizing for long. I would eat them for a few days, then not be able to look at them again. I did discover Preggie Pops (they sell them as little hard candies which are a little easier to carry around and suck on discreetly than the lollipops) with my second pregnancy (Motherhood Maternity stores sell them) and they were helpful. I have heard that lemon flavored candies can also help, although I never tried them because I don't like lemon to begin with. Orbit gum (believe it or not) in the blue package, I think, also seemed to settle my stomach. With my second pregnancy I dropped a few pounds during my first trimester and was told to try drinking a nutrition shake like Boost. Amazingly it DID help. I think it was the Strawberry Boost I drank. For some reason it kept the nausea at bay for a short period of time.
Make sure you carry something with you at all times - saltines, gum, or the hard candies - if you're out. And make sure to stay well hydrated.
GOOD LUCK! I hope it passes soon.
Answer:
I was told to eat crackers, this didn't work so the doctor said to get up slower. This didn't work either, basically I was sick throughout the day for the first three months. I even had this one hippie lady tell me to smoke a joint in the morning and that it would help. As much as I was losing my mind with getting sick I couldn't think who in their right mind would do this nowadays. But staying away from greasy foods helps too, even though it's hard to fight those cravings. I found I had trouble really badly with heartburn, which they say means your baby will have hair, I had heartburn all three times and all three had hair so who knows.
Answer:
I had to get an injection of antinausea meds with my first preg. I felt horrible all the time. The only thing I could sort of keep down was Gatorade. Everything made me ill. The second time, I wasn't as sick, but it would hit me in waves...and all of a sudden. If we were out, sometimes I was afraid I wouldn't make it to a bathroom. I threw up once all over the floor of an Applebees bathroom with my toddler son in tow! The seabands helped for me, as did chewing mint gum. I tried gingerale, gingersnap cookies, that wasn't working for me. :hurl:
Answer:
Eat small amounts often!
