Busy Watching MOvies Lately

Ask:
Okay I decided to try out the Blockbuster online thing, so I wanted to get some recommendations for family movies, other than cartoons. We recently rented Akalee and the Bee, I think that's spelled right anyway, and it was a great movie. My four year old enjoyed it, but it is about a girl who lives in a poor area of town and wins her school spelling bee. She continues on to the national championship, but without her mom's consent for most of the tournaments. It was one of those feel good movies that everyone can watch.

Any other recommendations?
Answer:

My little six year old isn't really interested if it's not animated (except for Oobi and the Upside Down Show, which I don't get the attraction of). It seems most "real" movies are just not appropriate for that age group, like Pirates of the Carribbean, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, etc. Other than that, we get animal-type ones from the library.

What he did enjoy was my interest in musicals. Some of the double entendres went over his head, thankfully. He liked Cats and Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat. He liked the Phantom of the Opera, but I had to stop at certain parts and ff thru them. Shaggy Dog was one he enjoyed.

Devil Wears Prada is pretty clean, but probably wouldn't keep little boys' attention.

Yeah see for the most part I can watch the animated movies, it's my husband that I'm trying to get to sit and watch the movie with. I know that I watched the Devil Wears Prada and it was difficult for them to watch and me since they wouldn't stop moving around. It was good though.

Okay thanks, I know they watched for the first time a couple of months ago was the Parent Trap and they loved it, that and amazingly Twister. I am liking that they are getting a little older and can watch some other movies, like Herbie and we watch a lot of Disney Channel movies, those are always cute and appropriate.

We just watched the Shaggy Dog and it was really cute, if you can get past a giant frog with a dog face ( you'll understand when you see it). My kids thought it was hysterical.....Mommy not so much.....
But the rest of the movie was very cute!

I know the The Never Ending Story was great, but I don't think I liked it until I got to be around eight or so, a lot of it I didn't understand when I was young. I hear you about those muppets, I remember one movie I loved as a kid with Big Bird and he got kidnapped I can't remember what this one was called so if anyone can remember let me know because I've done racked my brain with this one.

Oh my aunt recently dug through her old movies and found one called the Oddballs and the girls love it.
