Ask:
Did you find that your children liked different baby items?
With ds #1 we could not have lived w/out the swing and bouncy seat. DS #2 just tolerates them. We use the swing maybe 1-2x/week successfully. The bouncy seat does get used (grudgingly by ds) at dinner each night. But at 4.5 mos. he already loves the exersaucer. DS #1 did too - but he was much older.
DS #1 slept in his bassinet a handful of times - but ds #2 has fussed to be layed down rather than held since he was a few weeks old.
Answer:
Yup all three of my kids liked something totaly different. My oldest couldnt have made it without the swing and even slept there some desperate nights. My second loved his bouncey and we had to finaly stop using it when he was so big that it touched the floor and wouldnt bounce any more. Now my last one didnt like anything or anyone at first but me, I held her everywhere and all of the time. then when she was about 4 months old we got a jumpie exercauser and one of those things that hung from the door jam and she lived in them until she was big enought to climb out by herself.
Answer:
DD didn't like the swing or the bouncy chair. DS likes sitting in either one. DS (4.5mo) still loves to be swaddled in a blanket, while when DD was that age, wasn't using a blanket anymore. DD was more interested in sucking her fingers than a pacifier, but it looks like DS seems to "need" the pacifier to help him sleep at night (although he does suck on his fingers at times also). DD also found car rides to be relaxing and would calm down when certain CDs were being played, while DS doesn't enjoy either one. DS seems to prefer to fall asleep in silence rather than listen to music.
Answer:
My oldest never would have slept if we didn't have the swing!!! (Of course they didn't have bouncy seats or exersaucers back then , she is almost 21). My little boys all had respritory problems and slept in the bouncy seat for quite awhile since they could not breathe laying flat.
Answer:
My first was a swing baby, and loved to co-sleep, and did until she was 1. My seccond loved her vibrating seat, and HATED slept in our bed 2 times before we figured out she hated it. I am getting everything ready for baby 3, so we can figure out what she will like.
Answer:
Our first loved the swing and the bouncer was ok. She slept in the swing for some naps. She loved to be swaddled and held. She liked the bassinet but was very long and went into the crib at 4 months.
Our second hated the swing and was obsessed with the bouncer. If I took her out of the bouncer she was MAD! I put her bouncer in her crib at night because I was worried she would roll out while I was asleep. I bought a crib vibrator that attached to the bassinet so I could put her in there to sleep. The vibrator had to be on high (it vibrated the floor) in order for her to be happy. She was too long for the bassinet at 4 months so I put her into the crib so attached the vibrator to the crib. She was done with needing the vibration at 6 months. She hated to be swaddled and held tight.
It is interesting how different siblings can be.
