I recently caught a couple of Carrie Underwood's videos, and before I was sure who she was (they all tend to look the same after awhile), I was pretty impressed with her voice, songs and talent. I'm thinking of getting her CD.
Your opinions? I know she won all those awards, but that's meaningless to me. I have an eclectec taste, from Skeeter Davis, Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Nicks, Foreigner, to Shakira. I think Kelly Clarkson is OK, but just OK. Carrie actually seems to have more versatility.

I'm not a country music fan so she does nothing for me, and she was not my pick to win that year. I do have a good friend who is a HUGE country music fan and she tells me that "country music fans are very loyal and forgiving". Essentially, you don't have to be "all that" to make it big in country is the impression I got. It's "easier" to make it in country than in other music genres. She is pretty, I'm sure that helps. I think she shows no personality when she sings.

I have had her cd since it first came out what almost 2 yrs ago, I still listen to it often. Maybe you should see if you can get a copy from the library to hear first before deciding.

Music is such a personal thing. Calimari was talking about how she doesn't think carrie is all that, but she loves taylor. I thought taylor couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. So my point is just that it's hard for someone else to tell you. If you saw her and liked the few songs she sang, then you'd probably like them all. Or I like the advice to get a cd from the library to see if you like it. I know her CD was a HUGE hit, so somebody must have liked her.

I think most country music singers have very distinct voices and i don't agree with what Calimari said. That being said I look at hip hop and other MTV type of music in the very same way as she looks at country. So everyone has their own opinion!

I also like Carrie Underwood. I did not know it was her when listening to a particular song that I liked, but now that I have heard her, I have realized that I do like her music alot.

I hate, hate, hate country music, (I do like bluegrass however - go figure) but when I saw her video on somewhere (can't even remember where now as it was during an insomnia bought), I sort of thought it was good. I didn't know who she was until afterwards.
I don't watch AI, never have as it just bores me, so I don't give a rip who won or will win. But, I did like the song of Carrie Underwood's I saw. Not your normal country.
