Daughter's Princess bedroom

Ask:
Any ideas on decorating a princess bedroom for my 4 year old? I'm looking for different fun ideas. I was thinking about buying one of those net things to go over the top of the bed that I thought I could put some pretty jewels on. Anything else anyone can think of? I need some help.......

My daughter's is fairy tale princess/ I used green on the walls so I could accent with pink and flowers. I left the window wall blue and painted a tree and garden. Then I bought strands of "silk" roses to put around her bed and windows.

Someone painted a picture of her for us-from a picture I did in scrapbooking program-of her all dressed ip with a crown. I decorated around that picture. Overall, it's a very strong princess feel without 5,000 princess things-although we have a few-lamps, dolls...

Oh also, I was inspired by a pottery barn ad- she has a slanted wall in her room-so it's narrow-I hot glued ribbon in a diagonal fashion-pink! That is the wall that I hung her pipcture on. It's beautiful if I say so myself.

Have fun!

One more thing-in her nursery. I used watercolors to paint a castle over her crib, on a meadow-that was so pretty.

Don't forget Disney Princess stuff it is easy and fun. We bought the bedding and a poster. My daughter's walls are already pink. We also got a Barbie Magic of Pegasus lifesize castle on clearance. It is larger than one of those pop up castles inside and each of the four corner towers has 2 rooms in it for Barbie.

Great post! I am in the process of getting ready to do the same thing myself. Right now I am trying to organize the room first. I have new furniture arriving from the rooms to go kids princess collection on the 2nd of March. I just bought some pink paint and a a few rolls of the disney princess border to put up on the walls. I also bought a few wall stick-ups...one is big disney castle to place behind her bed. This is about as far as I have gotten so far so I will be checking back on here for some ideas.

My MIL is really crafty and when the girls were little she made youngest dd a mirror that was painted pink about 1/3 way down from the top. She then wrote Mirror mirror, on the wall ...... and then painted a crown underneath it and then the other 2/3 of the mirror you can look into. DD still has it she thinks it is really cool.
She also made them cornices out of plywood to hang over their curtains and then put wallpaper border over the plywood. Really cute
Good luck

We painted our daughter's room lavender, ruffled pink/white sheers with lavender curtains. I purchased a lot on ebay that included an inflatable princess chair, wall decorations and a comforter set. I also bought fabric and made some extra pillow cases. I painted her dresser white and bought knobs that are pink, purple & yellow flowers. We made a strand of beads and princesses to go across her headboard. Disney's website has some cute printables; door knob hanger, cards, mobiles, coloring pages & bookmarks. Click on a princess then click on activities. I used the blank cinderella greeting card for my daughter's birthday party invite (I only needed 2). Have fun

Thanks everyone for the great ideas ! Heather 61172, where did you get the Disney Castle wall stick up? That sounds like I might need it !
Answer:

You might check on birthdayexpress.com for wallie-type things. I remember they had princess stuff last time I was on there.
Answer:

Give her a cute reading nook with a throne to sit on. Take a high-back dining chair (goodwill has some nice loners that will work) and saw off the legs so they're short enough for your daughter to get up on it herself. the short legs will make the back seem really tall and royal. Recover the chair cushion with some plush fake velvet. totally cute and totally "princess"!

also, for wall decorations, if you have any artistic talent but can't necessarily freehand a castle on the wall (which describes me) print off a coloring-book type picture and project it onto the wall (borrow a projector from a local church). Trace and color in.
