I was sitting ds down for lunch yesterday when he went into a terrible 45 minute fit. He wouldn't take his pacifier, his balnket, his juice cup and wouldn't even let me hold him. I have never not been able to comfort him! I was freaking out and called the ped who told me to bring him in right away. Turns out both ears are infected with one being really bad! We just fininshed Augmentin for this about 1.5 weeks ago. Problem is, he doesn't run a fever and doesn't seem to be uncomrfortable and he is teething. I had been giving him Motrin for his teething and we think that the Motrin wore off & he was then in some really bad pain! I feel bad that it got this far. I had been really good about covering his ears with a fleece hat when we went out. I hope this is not a sign of things to come! Thanks for "listening"
Answer:
Poor little thing! I hate ear infections. My oldest was like that, I would take him in and he was not running a fever not complaining or anything. The dr would not believe that he was not even crabby!!! Tubes might be in his future!
Answer:
My youngest has ear infections all of the time! Sometimes I feel so guilty for not taking her in because I always blame it on teething. She ended up having so many that no medicine was working. So I would just give her some over the counter and hope that it took its course. She has one now every once in a while but I just keep an eye on her.
Answer:
My oldest had an ear infection with every set of new teeth. He never ran a fever so we wouldn't know he had an infection until he would wake up screaming during the night. Thankfully the ear infections stopped once he had all of his baby teeth. He has only had 1 since the age of 2.

My son had alot of problems with double ear infections. He never had one symptom! NEVER told me his ears were hurting, never whined, etc. He got tubes, they are out now but since they have been out he's getting them again so we might have to do another round

I was wondering if it could be related to teeth. Now that we are paying extra close attention to everything he does, he is chewing on his fingers alot and dh gave him a pretzel which immediately went to the back teeth (he hasn't cut his 1yr molars yet & we think he might be cutting them now)! I'm going to ask the dr on our follow-up visit about this.
Answer:
I have the same thing going on with my daughter. I noticed pus coming out of one of her ears earlier this week. Took her to the doc and it turns out she had ear infection in both ears also. She wasn't running a fever or anything. I felt really quilty for letting it get so bad, but I had no idea.
