Primetime

Ask:
I think it was Monday evening that I watched Primetime on TV because it said something in the intro about autism.

I was shocked to see that it was about a school in Mass that uses electro shock on the children to extinguish negative behavior. It was scarry to see the children whimper and cry when they just thought they might be shocked. Also they had scabs and scars from the electrodes.

The reporter was shocked on low and her entire body convulsed.

Ok, autism is hard and negative behaviour is even harder to control but using something short of torture! It would not be allowed on the prisoners in Gutamo Bay!

I hope this school ends soon.
Answer:

I watched this too and was in complete disbelief. I couldn't believe how badly the reporter shook when she was shocked and that wasn't even a quarter of the amount the kids get.

Some of the parents thought it was worth it since the outcome was good for thier kids. I mean some of those kids were biting themselves until they bleed and took chunks out....some were so violent that they could hurt a person or themselves horribly.....IF they didn't go there they would be in a home and perhaps in a straight jacket.

It's a hard call. I feel so bad for the kids yet they do seem to be functioning better.

I do believe someone should step in and do tons of research to see how this is affecting the children and if it's working for most or just a few here and there.

Oh and did you hear how much it cost to go there? Wasn't it like over $100,000 per year?
Answer:

My brother has had ET and has memory problems due to it. I know of no one this has really helped, although the therapist we use has said she has seen it. No thank you. I would never choose to put my child through this unless they were horribly dangerous to themselves and others and this was the only way. I wonder how many parents actually saw what went on.
Answer:

What they did to those kids at that school was torture. The little girl in the hall, when they showed her shocker control thing, (bad with names) she was terrified. I thought it was disturbing.

So was the other part of the show about brothers and sister and other relatives that fall in love with eachother, but thats a whole other thread!

Yes it was. It was about genetic attraction. People who are family members who meet later in life and end up having an attraction toward one another.
Answer:

Jodie,

I love your kids hair! Hunter always look like a mad man but it is so cold here that we have to keep it longer in the winter.
Answer:

I watched it too and was just Livid! I can not believe they did that to those kids. I could never imagine shocking my 5 year old ds because of his Autistic tendancies.
