Ask:
Ok, my 13 mo dd has her 4 top and 4 bottom teeth. Well now I noticed on the top left there is a space and then another tooth is starting to poke through. Are they supposed to come in order? I don't know if I should be concerned or not! Thanks for any advice you all have for me!!

I posted on your other thread, and I'll post here, too. I worked in a dental office for a couple of years. And, lots of moms ask this question. It is perfectly normal. And, happens very often. It is nothing to worry about. It may even be more common than not! I'm not sure what the actual statistics are. But, I do know that it is not abnormal!
Answer:
We have had two of our six who skipped a tooth completely. We were told by the dentist (a pediatric one!) that if they didn't have it yet, we were probably not going to get it! (my mil is missing one, as is one of her sisters, so it can be a genetic thing, I guess!) Well, my four year old never did get her missing one in, but my youngest, at age 2 1/2, finally popped up with a missing tooth that "normally" comes in at under a year old! We were thrilled, just because it means less to worry about.

My ds isn't getting his quickly or in order. At his 1yr check up I asked the ped & she said that the molars would probably come in and then everything else would fill in. Well at 15mths he has no molars and only 5 other teeth!! DD had a mouth full by now. The dentist said the later the better. I wouldn't worry about the order. By now I have found that in child development normal covers a wide range & just like in pregnancy, no 2 children are exactly the same!
