Ask:
We have ours in the den. We don't like our kids on it without supervision. I have to say that I hate the clutter that always piles up on it...even though I wouldn't put it anywhere else! We have a totally open, wrought iron baker's rack style desk. At first glance, you think it IS a baker's rack..and then notice the drawer is a keyboard shelf!! It is very pretty...when it is empty! When I have all my "stuff" on it, way too much shows. I wish I had gone with a closed in cabinet type desk now. It does "fit" my den, just because I have black and creme furniture, curtains, etc, and it blends well. I just wish it was closed in! What do YOU have??
Answer:
The answer....we don't! Our sounds just like yours..in the family room because I don't want it unsupervised, always has stuff piled up all around it. Mine doesn't even sound pretty like yours...just a cheapo sauder computer desk thing.
Answer:
Ours is in our living room. Our furniture is set up in the middle of the room so you can walk all the way around it. So that leaves a lot of wall space.
My dad always wanted his own office, desk and computer. He finally got his wish, just a few months before he died. They had converted my old room into an office for him. They bought a beautiful cherry L-Shaped desk with a hutch on it and an enormous leather office chair and of course the computer. He only got to enjoy it for about three months. My mom gave me the desk, computer and chair. I have it set up in the corner of my living room and I have his picture over it. I always feel like he's right here with me when I sit here.
A neat little addition that my mom gave me was a little antique console table type thing that the table top opens up. I have my scanner inside it, around the corner in the dining room. I keep my printer on the bottom shelf disguised under a doily.

I have mine in the living room. It is in a computer armoire. I love it, you just open the doors and there it is. We have shelves and file holders and a bulletin board on the back of each door. the clutter stays inside and I close the doors and it looks nice. Big plus is it keeps dd out of it and the cats can't mess with the wires.

THIS is what I am talking about!
Answer:
My desktop computer is on the desk in my office on the first floor of our house. I couldn't have it just 'out' in a regular room. Heck I can't have the TV out either, it has to be in the armoir. But that's me. My laptop is usually in the kitchen at my little desk/workstation that I have in the kitchen. Dh's laptops are just all over teh place, but he's working on all of them at any given moment and takes them all to work with him.
Answer:
ours is in the family room because dd loves to play on it but again I want to supervise. We have a roll top desk that I can close up and hide my junk! It works well but I cant find a chair to go with it that looks nice in the room.
Answer:
I refuse to have my computer out of my site, too, so it is in a corner of our family room on my great-grandfather's old desk. The colors blend in with our room, so it isn't too unsightly. Or maybe I'm just used to it.

About a year and a half ago I bought an old, old armoire at an estate auction for $50. I had my husband do some minor carpentry to the inside and made it into a computer armiore and we have it sitting in our dining room. It fits in well with our arts-n-crafts style home. I LOVE it! I can close the doors and hide the 'stuff'!
I would be glad to email you pictures if you'd like.
