Area Rugs..

Ask:
When you use an area rug on hardwood floors what kind of matt do you use underneath? Is it a rubber kind or the cloth kind?
Answer:

I have the rubber kind. I didn't even know there was cloth kind.
Answer:

The cloth is kinda like cotton/linen blend. I've found with rubber ones that when you pick them up they leave some rubber marks on the floor ~ nothing too terribly concerning but I was wondering if maybe they weren't supposed to be used on hardwood but rather a different surface. That is why I inquired about the cloth matts.
Answer:

I was told by the people who intalled our hardwood floors that you shouldb't use any rugs on them. That the wood will change color over time and it will be a diiferent color under the rug. Maybe that is only for new floors I don't know!
Answer:

Use the cloth!!! The rubber ones will leave residue on the floor that won't come up no matter how hard you try. That is what our installer warned us of.

Yes, your floor will change color IF you never move your rug! We roll ours up once a month for a few hours and have never had a problem with it changing color after a year.

I still love my hardwood floors!
