My electric bill went down AGAIN!

Ask:
Now THIS is newsworthy!

my bill came in for last month and it went down again by another $6! WE went from like $140 in oct and Nov, to $117 this month. I can't believe how much it has gone down. I feel like the light police, but it has paid off. I am very consistant about turning off lights, not using tons of hot water, shutting off unused items, ect. I have switched a few of our light bulbs over to the energy efficient ones and that has helped too. We use more natural light, rather than keep lights on all day.

And it still went down after last month I was using the stove to heat up the house during our really bad cold spells. Thats just awesome, I'm so proud.

I have budgeted $150 a month for electric, so when the bill comes in, I just pay them the $150 and give myself a credit on my next bill. That has been helping too.

I am so jealous!! We just got a letter on Friday saying our monthly amount was going up from $115 to $134/month (We have our electric bill on the budget plan so they evaluate our usage once a year and then set a flat rate for the next 12 months). It is so frustrating because in July we bought new, energy efficient appliances and we never have lights on in rooms we aren't in. We did buy some of those low energy light bulbs over the week-end so maybe that will help a little??
Answer:

Wow! That's some major conservation! Good job!
Answer:

thats awesome i can't wait to get my bill we changed all our bulbs over and we have been using the sunlight and turning stuff off so i hope my bill goes down to!!!
Answer:

I'm trying all the things you are trying, but due to the electric rate freeze going away (it's been in place for 10 years), our electric bill has DOUBLED!!!!!!! I mean a 100% increase. Ouch.
Answer:

Wow!! That's great! Our electric bill at this new house has been outrageous!!! I am going to try a few small things and see what I can do. I know it will help next month because we will not be running the space heaters so much (if at all) I am also only going to run very full loads of laundry and may even wash a few dishes out by hand!!! We already have mostly energy saving bulbs. and I do not use lights during the day. We shall see.
Answer:

Are you on Ameren or CWLP???

Ours has doubled since last month. We were excited since it hadn't gone up and everyone else had, but we got hit HARD this month. (We have Ameren)
Answer:

If you're trying to save electricity, you should unplug anything that you don't use on a daily basis. And, even those, unplug what you can. I read that keeping things plugged in using electricity even if they aren't on.
