Diaper Trouble

Ask:
My little (or not so little) 15 lb+ little girl has been leaking out of her diapers. She is already in Pampers Cruisers Size 3. This morning she pooped and it filled her diaper and went ALL THE WAY (and I mean all the way) up her back. She has been having some large poops recently. Do you think there is a diaper that can better handle large loads better or is it time for size 4?
Answer:

Could it be that her diaper is actually too big and that is why the poop is seeping out? Size 3 for a 15 lb baby seems kind of big. What is the weight for those diapers?

I really think a size 4 would be way too big.
Answer:

Size 4 for a 15 pound baby is definitely too large in my opinion, although I think she's fine in a size 3 (both my boys were big too and they were in 3's by her age). Someone may have a recommendation for a brand of diaper that might hold leaks a little bit better, but it has been my experience that no matter the brand or size, there are some bowel movements that just won't stay contained. It might help to make sure that you get a snug fit with the diaper at the waist and legs (although not so tight that it makes her uncomfortable) - that might help keep everything contained a little bit. Good luck!
Answer:

Thanks...I thought the larger size would be too big. She has been in 3s for a month now and they just started being a problem. We stopped using 2s when they were leaking from everywhere! They are nice and snug...maybe she is just having those BMs that won't stay contained. Thanks.
Answer:

I couldn't use pampers for any of my kids for that reason. I used huggies mostly; we still had a few episodes with them, but all in all, there were no problems.
Answer:

I havn't had luck with huggies..always comes out the sides. My daughter is about 14 lbs and I use the Pampers Swaddlers size 2 because they form to her and have the stretchy tabs. Maybe try to Pampers "Flex" also.
Answer:

At that age and size, I may have been using the Swaddlers, but if not, went to Pampers regulars. I never did have luck w/the Cruisers - bad leaks. As she got bigger, I went back to the Huggies Supreme, which I used for ds. I have to say that I like Luvs, too, which I tried. i just won't use them at night.
Answer:

This is a common problem for babies at the 4 month mark especially if they are breastfed. Soon, her b.m. consistency will change with the addition of solids and that will help with the leaky poop problem. I've seen this so many times with the moms I counsel (and with all my BF babies)! Until then, you just have to manage the best you can. And, always pack extra clothes for baby & you!
Answer:

She is breastfed! Her poops have calmed down a little in regards to size, but yesterday she hit me with my first totally green diaper - thats what I get for eating salad.

It isn't coming out of the bottom so I think the 4s are okay. It I start having problems again maybe I will try some swaddlers I still have around.
Answer:

my little sweetie is 12lbs and is in size 2 diapers ( almost 6 months old)All of my other kiddos were about 15 + lbs by the age of your daughter and I they always leaked out the back depending on how they positioned. If they were sitting up it would go all the way up their backs. Anyways she leaks every single time she poops, it goes up her back and out the sides. I have tried both huggies and pampers swaddlers but it does not make a difference.
I am interested in reading what you ladies come up with....
