How long do you use them for? I can't decide whether to get one or not!

Well I never had one, so I may not be the best person to ask. I think it depends on how many kids you have and if space is tight and if you can get one cheaply. My kids went straight from cribs to bed, and most people I knew their kids did too, so you obviously don't have to have them. But some people have to move their kids out of the crib early because they have a second child soon after that they need the crib for, and they feel more comfortable with a toddler bed, or some people don't have much space, and a toddler bed takes less room. I personally wouldn't spend much on one unless I was going to use it for more than one child...but then I'm cheap!!

My older two went straight to a bed, but the rest have used toddler beds until about four years old!! We used them for the reason that they ARE cheap, desertmom!! We couldn't afford the big boy/girl bed, so we opted for the cheap toddler bed and being able to use the crib mattress!!!

my oldest was in one from 15 mos to 3 years then to a twin size bed. My son is 2 and he went to his toddler bed around 15 months also and will stay probably until age 4. My dd is so tall for her age so she outgrew it fast.

I sold 2 toddler beds on craigslist this week that were my oldest daughter's beds. My youngest is 15 months and I'm not going to bother with keeping them for her. They grow out of them so fast and I wish I would've kept my oldest in her crib longer. I wouldn't buy one.

We used them forever!! My kids are on the small side and we just took my 7 & 8 yr olds out of them last year. They actually still fit, but we wanted the toddler beds for my younger son and my grandson. So I definitely think we got our money's worth out of the $40 we spent for one (used it for 3 kids) and the other someone my dh works with gave us!

We are one of those families that needed the crib for baby so moved our then 20mth old to a toddler bed. Someone gave us a crib mattress so we only had to buy the bed. I don't forsee taking her out of the bed untill baby is ready for it. When he starts to climb out of the crib, then we'll move him to the toddler bed and dd to a twin bed. They are great space savers as well. The kids have plenty of floor space in their rooms to play with toys. I really don't look forward to moving a bigger bed in their rooms.

My boys went straight from crib to bed. They went at the same time...Carson was 3 and Parker was 2 1/2. I'm doing the same thing with Wyndser around her 3rd birthday. She's still in a crib.
