My son was given a second mental health eval. yesterday and his diagnosis is ADHD with an anxiety disorder. He was previously diagnosed as OCD and ADD. We tried Strattera and foudn no improvement and couldn't really agree with what the first dr. said. We sought a second opinion and his diagnosis was a bit different. This dr. recommended Daytrana patch for ds. He said that it will help with the loss of appetite that can come with oral meds since this bypasses the gut and goes into the blood and liver right away.
My question is for anyone who has tried this? What are your feelings about the patch? Have you had good results? Any complaints? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I was excited to read about it at first, until I saw that it is methylphenidate... Which made my daughter irritable when we tried it.

We are on day 3 and I can honestly say that my son is like a different child...he is not combative, not argumentative, does what we ask him to almost immediately. And he spent an hour writing on a dry erase board trying to teach dd her alphabet letters. So far no side effects, a little redness when the patch comes off, but otherwise pretty good.
