Ask:
decluttering can feel like a challenge...nothing helps us accompish this like feeling like,no matter how big the challenge, like we have support...so I thought I would start a thread that's nothing but words of encouragement so here's my phrase...
it's not hearing the tips that make the difference...
it's what you do with them
Answer:
Great idea!! My tip:
If you're just beginning with organizing/purging/decluttering, pick *one* 'hot spot' to start with... so if it's your computer desk, focus on that one job for the day. And really ask yourself, do I need this? Am I using this? Could someone else benefit from it? Then toss/donate accordingly!!
Answer:
(1) Make your accomplishements EASY! If you're cleaning out drawers, open them up, pick out what you absolutely want/need, then tip the drawer's remaining contents into the trash. You'll feel very accomplished and relieved everytime! Have no mercy - be brutal and just let go. The freedom is indescribable.
(2) Use a timer! Set your timer for 15 minutes and dive head-on into your decluttering task. Race the clock. You'll be amazed how straightforward and quick your decisions are when you're on a deadline. Set the timer for longer when doing a larger project, but keep it short. If you have to, separate the project into smaller tasks and do those separately. It'll keep you on track and feeling accomplished, which in turn will motivate you to continue on your decluttering journey.
