Ask:
We are finally getting to where we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. However, we now have the major issue of late, late, late payments on our cc's. Two have been turned over to collections. I feel overwhelmed by the amount needed just to catch up, we don't have a couple thousand laying around. I know I have to face the collectors eventually, but I'd like to have a game plan b4 I talk to them. Any body had similar expierences? What was your outcome? Any advice?
Answer:
This is more of a question than an answer. What if you pay what you can, a little bit on each for now. That way it appears that you are at least making an effort and not trying to hide from them.

i agree pay something don't stop paying even a small amount shows good faith...also when you talk to them simply explain you fell behind and have every intention fo paying the debt because you owe it... if they are unwilling to work out an acceptable plan still keep paying it shows good faith on your part.
Answer:
Have you offered to settle with the credit companys?? My parents did this a year ago, and were able to have almost all of the late charges and overlimit fees erased...
Answer:
We were able to settle with one for 45% of what we owed. But they made that offer, I didn't realize I could broach a settlement offer.
