Ask:
So when is a good time to start "weaning" them from a paci? I'm getting soo tired of doing "paci roundups" and making sure we have one everywhere we go!! I'm sure his speech is delayed a little because of it also. I try to keep them out of site (& out of mind) but just when I think I have found them all, he'll find one somewhere!! I've thought about actively trying to only give them at night & nap and then going from there. I'll have to admit, I'm a wimp. It is easy to just give him his paci when he gets upset, but I know he needs to learn another way to soothe himself! Any suggestions? (he is 15mths)
Answer:
I've heard that some moms cut the tip of the paci off and then give it to their kids. After a while they dont want it anymore. Dont know if it works but I plan on doing that in a few months.
Answer:
I've heard some parents tell them the Easter bunny (or appropriate seasonal gift giver) took them and gave him something else since he is a big boy and doesn't use paci's anymore...so he could give his paci to a baby who needs it.
I'm not so sure about that one - kid might start hating the bunny But you could maybe try to replace it with a new stuffed animal he picks out. Good luck! Fortunately my DD has her hands (sucks her hands) and has never been too happy about pacis. But there are plenty of times I wish she would take it!
