conception after IUD removal

Ask:
I have an appointment on April 27th to have my Mirena IUD removed so that we can start trying for another baby. Has anyone in here had an IUD and then tried to conceive after removal? Were you successful and if so how long after? I have heard lots of differing opinions on this. Thanks!!
Answer:

It is probably like a lot of bc where you can get pregnant within 1- 3 cycles after quitting it as long as you do not have any problems.

I have a question about IUDS. I will be getting one after I have my baby...how does it feel during insertion? Did you have any problems with them?

Jen
Answer:

I had one removed before my last son. It took a year to conceive him, but I think there were other problems. I was already pre-menapausal so my cycles were not regular and he is our miracle, bonus baby!!!
Answer:

Off the Mirena site:

"Studies show your chances of getting pregnant after Mirena is removed are similar to women who had not been using any form of birth control."

(I didn't know the answer but was curious, so I looked. HTH )

I didn't feel much. Then again, my dr. let me nurse my newborn while he inserted it, so I was kind of distracted. Maybe a slight twinge of pain, but not bad.
Answer:

I felt NOTHING. I could not believe that 30 seconds after I put my legs up, he was done! It took longer to cut the strings to the right length than to insert it. I have had one for almost 2 years...no problems, rarely a period, and I recommend it to everyone I know looking for a semi-permanent way for birth control.
Answer:

Same here as for Jennifer. I felt nothing during insertion. And yes they do say you can get pregnant right after removal. I have known one or two ppl to be pregnant within 2 to 3 months after removal.
Answer:

ihave an iud and haven't had one removed, but getting itput in it just felt like cramping, andi spotted a bit after, and for the first few months i had cramps with every period and one day of very heavy bleeding. other than that nothing lol. i did have a friend who got pregnant on hers, my dr says they are only about 95% effective. but i have had mine for 3 years and haven't gotten pregnant. i also have the copper one, my body can't handle anymore hormones than what i already have.
Answer:

Ive had one in for just over 3 years and is been the best form of birth control that Ive ever been on! I havent had a period in 3 years either. Every once in awhile a bit of spotting but its rare.

I was just going to ask the same question about conception after removal as well since dh and I have decided that we are going to try for a 3rd. I am so excited and so it dh we cant wait to get started!!!
Answer:

I don't have any experience with the IUD, but my sister does. She had hers removed and never had another period before getting pregnant...so she got pregnant almost immediately.

Just to clear up anything, I think everyone else is talking about the Mirena IUD which is proven to be 99.9% effective. So it is very rare for anyone to get pregnant on it. I'm also the same as an above poster. I've had maybe 4-5 bouts of spotting since having mine placed 14 months ago.
