Ask:
I am currently using a double stroller for my kids (17 months and 3 years old) but I may have killed it I'm interested in a sit and stand type but there are occasions that both my kids fall asleep while we are out and about so I'm not sure we are ready for a sit and stand type yet.
I'd love to hear any advice, pros/cons about double strollers and sit & stands.
Thanks!
Answer:
Personally, if your oldest is 3 I would not spend the money on either! My kids would never stay on anything by that age.

I LOVE my sit and stand it cost me 40 bucks off ebay - it is an older one but just what I needed Since both my kids quit napping very early on (how I miss those naps) I usually did not have a problem my girls are 3 and 4 now and I do not really use it anymore but it was wonderfull when I did I wish I would have gotten it sooner - I could still use it for my 4 year old but my 3 year old want's nothing to do with sitting in the stroller - Robin

I have a Graco DuoGlider that I mainly use when I'm shopping at the mall. My 3 1/2 year old walks most of the time but he still does like to ride occasionally. We actually went to the Zoo today with just the umbrella stroller for our 17 month old and everything worked out fine (actually, even he walked a good part of the time). I really should try to find a sit'n'stand I like or get one of the platforms you attach to a single stroller so I can retire my double stroller (honestly, I don't think we really need it anymore).

I have the sit and stand and love it. But my kids never sleep in a stroller. Since your one child is three then I wouldn't buy either personally. I would just an umbrella style and the 3 year old can walk. I'm about to sell my sit and stand b/c my older two (3&4) walk everywhere now and so we don't use it anymore.
Answer:
has a double stroller that also converts to a sit and stand, and it isn't too expensive considering....
Answer:
IMO the Sit N Stand is the best stroller ever! But my son doesn't nap when we're out because he's 5 and too busy to miss anything. I also tried using just an umbrella stroller and having him walk but when he got tired he fought to use the umbrella stroller and then I had to carry the baby. Didn't work. Since we got the Sit N Stand (free off of Freecycle but it didn't drive properly so I UPSd it back to the company and they fixed it and shipped it back to me for free! $46 for a box and shipping for an essentially new stroller!) there hasn't been one problem.

Thanks for the input ladies, I'm still undecided. I do have an umbrella style but the bar hits my shins so I'd just use my original stroller. I'm considering that One Step ahead one.

I noticed that you said that you think that you killed the double stroller, have you contacted the company that you bought it from? I had a really old double stroller that I actually found at a garage sale and I called the company to get some parts. They sent me everything to fix my stroller and it was just like new. I would try this before I went out and got a new one, unless you just want a new one.

i have a recent 3 yr old and a 14 month old and i still swear by my side by side umbrella stroller
i had the sit and stand thing and i think we were not ready for it. still my 3 yr old is a "runner" and she would not remain in the "older kid" part of the sit and stand. i had to bolt her down!
i use the double stroller for the mall and for when im going to workout - its a big parking lot and i do not feel like fighting her to hold my hand. my kids have never slept in their strollers but they stay put...but its not like they're in there for hours either. when we're at the mall i do all my stuff first, give them snacks half way in (when they're losing it) then save about 45 min to go to the play area and let them both stretch out and play.
(i also had a duo glider and hated it - im an older mom with a bad back and it was wayyy to heavy)
i liked the concept of the sit and stand...maybe i will try it again later on or when i can trust my daughter to listen!
