Ask:
I'm going to pare down my linens today and am wondering how many blankets/sheet sets to keep.. right now I know I have too many.. I decluttered a couple months ago, but didn't get rid of enough I feel...
So how many sheet sets/blankets do you keep?
Answer:
I have several older blankets that I keep for camping or the occasional guest. They are in fine condition, just not needed everyday.
I have about 4 sets of sheets for a double bed as that is what we had before we got our king size. I am keeping them because that is our spare bed now, and probably what our son will go into when he is out of the crib.
I only have 1 set of sheets for our king but would like another. The ones I want are too expensive so I have to wait.
Answer:
For sheet sets we have about 5 sets of Queen sheets. For twin beds we must have about 12-15 sets! The 2 older dd's have a bunkbed and the little one has a toddler bed which we have about 4 sheets for. I definately need to declutter. We also have too many blankets. But not big blankets the small to medium size enough for one person. My dh's great grandmother made them and now that she is gone I am not going to get rid of them. Plus those are the ones we use all of the time. We even use them as partial comforters instead of a normal one.
Answer:
For our bed...a King...I bought 2 sets of great quality 600 thread counts cotton sets and one set of flannel for cold times. DS 1...13 years old...has one set of flannel and 2 cotton bottom sheets only. DS 2 and 3 ( 3 and 6 years old and still wetting beds) have 1 set flannel sheets and 1 set cotton each plus 2 cotton fitted sheets each.
Blankets...hmmm...I am a blanket hog. Dh and I have 4 or 5, each DS has 3 or 4 each. In my defense...I change and wash blankets when I do sheets once a week. I hang dry so it takes a while for them to dry, so I need the to have the extras to make ti through drying times.
Pillow cases. Dh and I has 3 each that came with the sets. DS1 has 3. DS2 adn 3 have4 or 5 each. People give them the charector ones, plus the ones that can with the sets.
I don't keep extras just for guests. i just make sure the laundry is done so company can use some of the kids' linens and blankets. Or...they actaully sleep in the kids' rooms and the boys get stuck on the couch or in a sleeping bag.
I know that if I used my dryer all the time I would only keep 2 sets of sheets for each bed and an extra bottom sheet for our bed wetter.
Hope that helps!
Answer:
For our bed, we have 1 set of sheets, and an extra fitted sheet.
For the girls I have at least two each. I used to not have as many, but found that inevitably when one gets sick in the middle of the night, someone else will too. I like to have enough so that I can change the sheets and not have them sleep on just the mattress.
We don't have a guest bed...so no guest sheets.
I do have 2 blankets, but we all usually just sleep with the top sheet and/or comforter.
Answer:
I have four sets of king size sheets for our bed. Two of which I got at JCP and ABSOLUTELY LOVE!!! I highly recommend them! The other two, one was given to me because my mom bought a king size comforter for one of her beds, but did not need the sheets and the other set came with the comforter I bought. I am not really crazy about either set that came with comforters, but have not gotten rid of them either. The kids have a lot of mismatched stuff. I really need to go through it and decide what makes a set and just get rid of everything else, but just have not done it.
SO, how many do I need?? I really think I would be fine with just two sets of sheets for each bed. That way you have one set on and one set washing in the worst case. Blankets are another issue. I have lots of blankets that are like someone said, just enough for one person, but do not fit on a bed. I have very FEW bed blankets, so they have to use their "fun" blankets on their beds with them.
Answer:
wow that is alot of sheets. I have one sheet set for each bed in the house and two extra winter flannel sets.

Thanks everyone... just went through my linens and have a garbage bag busting FULL of sheets and blankets to donate to the Salvation Army (they give them out to homeless people) so i'm quite happy!
I do have a LOT of handmade blankets for the kids from their gma's that I can't part with... one has passed on and they were made with loving hands.. so I will keep them for the kids and when they get older, they can decide what they'd like to do with them. Plus, now that i've pared everything else down, I have room anyways..
I like the one to wash, one on the bed idea. I need to buy a couple more double sets then i'll toss the extra 3 'old' ones i'm hanging onto..
Thanks for your input!
Answer:
We have one set of sheets for each bed. I wash them all on Mondays and then put them back on.
We have one down comforter and one regular blanket for each bed too. Summers we use the regular, winter we use the down.
Answer:
My mom came over this afternoon with 3 'new to me' sheet sets from my gma that they only used once!! So I donated all our old sheets for dd's bed, and now she has 3 new and complete matching sheet sets!
