Ask:
I have spots of paint on my hardwoods from the careless painters who worked for us. Does anyone know what will work to get it up? It is dried. Some of it is glopped drops but some if smears that are thin. UGH!!
Answer:
Try rubbing alcohol...wet drops...wait a few minutes-should wipe up
Answer:
Are they big enough globs to scrape? You could try one of those Pampered Chef scrapers. They are plastic & have rounded edges so they won't harm the wood. As far as the smears, I would try rubbing alcohol, like mommy2mercedes suggested, or maybe nail polish remover.
Answer:
alcohol should get it all up....be careful doing any scraping!!!
You should be able to get it up without scraping though....just start by trying the alcohol.
I've cleaned even big spills(that had sat for 20 some years) with alcohol...so lets save scraping for a last resort!!!
Answer:
Have you tried a product called " Goof Off"??
Answer:
After we painted ds's room we were able to get about 1/2 the drops up w/murphy's oil soap. I had never heard the alcohol trick tho - wish we'd tried that! (we're in a new house now)
Answer:
Thank you! I'll try the alcohol. I haven't tried the Goof Off either. I haven't known what to do that wouldn't harm the hardwoods since they are 77 years old. I will try it with my spring cleaning.

That's why I suggested the PC scrapers. They won't harm the wood. I've used them on hard wood floors & on our dresser to remove candle wax. Since they are rounded, they don't scratch or gouge.
