Ask:
I pump 4-6 times a day cus breastfeeding just doesnt work that well for me with twins. So they're up to 7 oz each and my body just isnt able to shoot out 14 oz in one sitting. I dont even get 7 oz in one sitting. I have tried fenugreek and brewers yeast but it doesnt seem to be working. And I drink fluids all day. Any ideas on how to increase my milk supply?
Answer:
Chug that water and keep eating!!! Im only nursing one and I, too, cant produce more than 6 oz in one sitting. Just remember... the more you pump/nurse.. the more youll produce. So eat, drink, pump, eat, drink, nurse!!!
Answer:
And, while I am a HUGE advocate of breastfeeding, remember that you are NOT a failure if you end up supplementing with formula! You have my highest respect for nursing, not one, but TWO babies for this long, regardless!! I am proud of you!!
Answer:
I tried everything too and nothing worked for me! You could try Le Leche League but honestly they just made me feel worse by trying to make me do unrealistic things for the "well-being" of my baby.
Answer:
Just dont know how much pumping my little bosoms can take. heehee. I've tried pumping every 2 hours and its just not working. i supplement with formula at night but now it seems like im supplementing more than giving them my milk. guess i should drink more h20 than i already do.
Thanks for the support ladies!!
Answer:
Yeah I heard LLL isnt very helpful sometimes. They yelled at my cousin for giving her baby formula cus she needed to gain weight cus she wasnt nursing well. They just made her feel worst. Either way I'll give them a shot and see what they have to say.
Answer:
have you talked to the pediatrician!! I had problems with my oldest and I got the best advice from the drs office!!
I have heard LLL can make you feel bad!! you gotta do what you gotta do for your babies and yourself!!! Any amount of BF is wonderful!!
Good luck!!
Answer:
Yes. I'm a HUGE BF advocate, and I actually overproduced on this child, underproduced (I thought) on the last one - they get more out when they nurse directly. Anyway, give them what you can, relax, eat right, get enough rest and drink lots of water. But there's absolutely NO harm in supplementing if you need to. Better than having an underweight, hungry child and a drained mother. I supplemented w/my first - had to when I was working, till I became a SAHM. You will be giving baby the best of both worlds, including a more relaxed mommy. Fenugreek and all that did nothing for me, either and just upset ds' tummy. Good Starts is an excellent supplementation.

I took something that i got at our Breast Feeding Coalition in the next town over. I will call them tomorrow and see what it was called. It was three years ago so i can't remember what it was called. It worked great though.
Answer:
First of all, good for you for breastfeeding. I had the same problem of not producing enough milk. I did end up having to supplement with formula, even though I hated the thought of doing it. After I did it, it really wasn't that big of deal. I think some women's body's just don't produce as much as others. I also came to the conclusion that my pump was a piece of junk and could have been the reason I wasn't getting much milk. I'm not sure what kind of pump you have, but I partially blame my low production on that.
