Ask:
2 days ago the baby dropped and then yesterday I lost my mucus plug and had slight cramping and pressure on my pelvis/lower back. Now it's 4:16 AM and I cant sleep because the cramping has gotten worse. IT seems to come and go lasting a few seconds each time but still isn't consistant. It seems to be more intense when I feel the baby pressing down like he's stretching. The pain is in my lower abdomen where the muscles are it feels like the worst cramps of my life but I dunno that they're intense enough to be considered contractions.
(when I called my dr office after using my mucus plug they said it was probably just old blood and that I was constipated, even tho' I explained to the nurse that I have had a movement. She simply told me that if I kept spotting past 3 days then I should come in. But in my book these sound like the frist stage of latent labor)
Answer:
Sounds to me like it might be the early stages of labor. I had this for 5 full days before I went into labor the 5th night.basically the best thing you can do is get up and get moving help get that baby down in there and settled in so you can go into full blown labor. Good luck and let us know the news
Answer:
should I be timing them? It seems like I've had 3 short ones within the last 35 mins
Answer:
Hey Jubes, how are you??
Answer:
I'm good, not sure I can go 5 full days of this like Boninikids did.
Answer:
I was like that with my first. After 24 hours I went to the hospital....because I was already 2 cm, they kept me. They had to give me something to speed up the contractions, and they broke my water. Just a thought for you....you might want to just go in....the worst they will do is send you home.
Answer:
Sounds exactly how i felt with my 2nd baby,i would get up at night to pee and feel a cramp, it eventually went away, by the 3rd night it never went away and i was in labor and had her the same day.
Answer:
You might be in the early first stage of labor. I'd recommend walking as much as you can, and stop to breathe through the contractions if you need to. I don't know that a trip to the hospital is warranted yet, you will probably be most comfortable at home, for now. Taking a nice, long, hot shower will probably make you feel good, too. (No bath once your water breaks) Try not to let yourself get tense~do whatever you might normally do to relax yourself and breathe through the contractions. Rest up, as the more strength you have for pushing, the easier it will be. My ob said that once it gets too difficult to talk through a contraction, that's a good sing that you maight want to get to the hospital. Good luck and let us know how you're doing!
Answer:
Get monitored and checked. I was on the first day of induction and got a gel insert. Before it was time for me to leave I was 2 minutes apart with mild cramping...the nurse did not even check me and sent me home...needless to say I was at the hospital 1 hour later in full labor and had little one in 5 hours time.
Guess what most hospitals changed their policies and keep ladies who got the smae treatment as me over night just incase they go in to labor....and it was suppose to be a rare occassion Ha ha

Answer:
I would stay home and do the following to see if it goes away. If it goes away, it isn't labor: Eat, Drink, Walk, Shower
If it isn't picking up, I wouldn't hurry to the hospital. Moving to the hospital can slow things down even more. If you are comfortable at home, I would walk, eat and drink well and wait for it to progress. Good luck!
