Eleven month old waking at night

Ask:
Ds wakes up some nights crying and I'm not really sure if it's his teeth or what. He usually seems o.k. if I get him and hold him for a little bit but sometimes when I put him back he is upset other times he is fine. I don't want to get in the habit of picking him up every night but I also don't want to ignore him if something is wrong like his teeth or maybe his ear hurts. He is fine napping during the day so I don't know, any ideas?
Answer:

My 13 mo old did the same thing. i did what you are doing until she started to do it more often. Now when she does it i give her a minute in her crib to see if she actually needs something and most of the time she just stops within a minute, and if she doesn't i go in give her a hug and kiss her nuk and put her back to bed ( as long as I think there is nothing wrong). i think that sometimes she relizes that she doesn't have her nuk or is dreaming or something i don't know but she generally just goes back to sleep. her older sister never did this. Just one more thing to deal with i think.
