Ask:
I saw on a TV show that they took all this family's CDs, DVDs, xbox games, etc out of the cases they come in and put them into plastic sleeves that go into a binder. Like baseball card albums but bigger. KWIM? It really reduced the space used dramatically. Does anyone here do this? I have a question about it. How do you organize when you get a new one? Like right now, I "try" to keep all the DVD's at least in ABC order. WE don't have many cd's or xbox games b/c we trade them in for credit when we're done, so those I just keep in a basket. When the kids get a new DVD I just stick it in like you do a library book. But in the binders, would you have to move all the Dvd's to make room for a new one? Or could you just add an extra page? Anyone do this and have any comments?
Thanks! DS is having surgery this summer and I really want to get better organized beforehand, as much as possible. I almost feeling like I am nesting
Answer:
I only put TV on DVD into a binder, but we have so many movie dvds that we gave up on exact alphabetizing... we just group the a's together, b's together, and so on.
Answer:
We have separate binders for music and for the dvd's and games. DH has a binder of just his movies and games and any of our grown up movies. For one, it cuts the space required to store the things by at least 2/3, and two it allows us to keep our stuff out of the kids hands. I gave up trying to alphabetize when we hit 1000 discs (a combo of cds, dvds and games)

THis is something I've been thinking about doing for awhile and then I saw this in my magazine recently. I'm thinking this would be great for us, but I am also anal and like things to be alphabetized. I guess I would probably do the extra page thing and group them by letters like summeranne suggested. I think it would also make it easier to travel and take movies with us if they were in a binder.
Answer:
We do this with youngest dd's DVD's.. she has so many... we use the little 'cd' cases that you flip through.. SO easy, and take up MUCH less room than DVD cases do.
Answer:
I only have 5 dvds and ones tha we use to record over and over!! I get rid of dvds when the kids are done with them!! (plus we use netflix)
Answer:
I did it with my CD's....a few years ago we got a 200 disc changer and it was easier to put them in the changer and binder in alphabetical order....PROBLEM is when..we buy new CD's, so it is A-Z and then random for the last 30 or so, and I still have about 10 spaces to fill, so it isn't full, but when it is...I will prob take everything apart and re-do it ..... I am very weird about the CD's and movies being alphabetical, so I prob won't so this with the movies...we're always adding to them and I like to see at a glance what I'm picking and if i don't remember it, read the description on the back.
Answer:
I do this with my Cds, I have over 300 of them.. Dvds I dont.. cause I am like the dvd rental here for my family.. I like them to have the cases so they get messed up.. I also have one that has pics burned on them.. Though I have my external harddrive for that.. I like to have hard copies myself..
Answer:
Cool. I think I am going to budget a little of my upcoming paycheck toward getting some stuff to set this up.
Answer:
We have ours in binders by genre. They kids are in little round cases so I can grab one & put it in the van for a trip.
