Worried!

Ask:
It seems like everyone has an end of pregnancy question arond here lately, and I guess I am going to be one of those people!

I am 36 weeks. WE THINK. My baby is large and I am having a c-section in 2 and a half weeks. There is a bit of room for my due date because I concieved while on birth control, so we don't know when exactly this baby was made!

The last few days I have had contractions on and off, consistently and inconsistently. I have also felt that the usually pretty active baby isnt moving much. It is 6 at night here and the last time i felt a good movement was this morning.

She is usually most active at night so I am waiting and in a little while I am going to lay down and eat something and see if she does her nightly routine.

Should I call my Dr. if she doesnt start moving? anyone have experience with this?
Answer:

Katie, If you have any doubts about anything you should always call the dr. thats why you have them. GO call NOW!
Answer:

I wouldnt worry, Im sure its fine. I do remember something about calling the doctor if you dotn feel the baby for a certain lenght of time but I dont know any details. I would wait and see what happens tonight because sometimes the baby is moveing you just dont notice it. of course with that said if you are truely worried than you should call. A mother always knows best.
Answer:

I am a worrier. If i hadn't felt movement for that long i would have probably been at the hospital....however as the babies get bigger there is less movement to be felt. They just can't wiggle like they use to. Soooooooooo i say you have a good idea. Eat some and then lay on your side and see if you can't get her moving for you. IF after that you still don't feel much i would call into the doctor. IMO there is never too much caution.....
Answer:

They have less room to move at this point, so it will slow down. Try drinking some milk and lay down on the correct side (right?) to see if baby moves. You're probably fine - baby's resting up for delivery, too! But the other poster is right - call your doctor - there's no such thing as being too protective.
Answer:

I think we're fine... I took a bath, splashed my stomach and got a bunch of kicks. Thanks for the input everyone.
Answer:

I'm so glad you're ok, Jessica, and that Grace made a little movement for you! I have a feeling she's going to make her appearance sooner than your c-section is planned for. I know it's cold and snowy, but try to walk as much as you can. Drink lots of good fluids and eat good foods and rest when you can. I really hope labor starts soon for you!! Let us know how you're doing!
Answer:

I am glad everything is fine! I had forgotten about the less movement at the end! When it comes to being pregant wheather its your 1st or your 5th I think you can never be to cautious, yes I probly was a paranoid pregnant woman-worried-
Answer:

Well I know you said that you think you guys are fine but, any time you feel descreased movement you're supposed to call the doctor. If you think you're feeling the baby move less, lie on your side and try to count the number of times you feel the baby move. If you feel less than 10 movements in 2 hours, call the doctor.
Answer:

I am glad she is OK!

I too was a paranoid pregnant woman, both times! If baby hadn't moved in a few hours I would poke her/him or jiggle my belly a little just to get a kick! They put me in the hospital to induce my first and the night nurse came in and turned the noise off on the fetal heart montior & I told her to turn it back on. She said she turned it off so I could sleep. I told her that hearing that was the best sound I had heard in my life and I would sleep better with it on!!!

Good Luck!!
