Ask:
There is a spot in my house where I think a bunch of plants would look nice. I have not had house plants for years (did not feel like fighting to keep the kids out of them, but I think they are old enough now). I need suggestions for cheap, very hardy, nice looking houseplants! TIA
Answer:
Not sure what size you're looking for or if you will have them in filtered light or direct light, but here goes. Philodendrons can withstand any kind of light and mistreatment. They're smaller table sized plants. For floor sized plants I recommend "peace lily". They don't need a lot of sunlight and are very hardy and they'll occasionaly get a really pretty white spike type flower. I do currently have a smaller peace lily that I keep on top of my computer desk, but most are bigger and need to be on the floor. HTH

Thanks!! The plants would sit on something (the counter over our hot water radiators) and they would get lots of sun through our south facing front windows.

I have TRIED and FAILED to kill my spider plant. And ivy usually lasts a long time around here, too.
