Ask:
We actually got a good return this year and when I went to check my bank balance today I saw it finally came through. Now I'll be able to send some extra to our two credit cards we still have outstanding.
I'm also looking to our vacation which is only 2 weeks away. We're driving down to Florida spending a couple of days with my bil and wife and meeting our new nephew in Miami and then driving back up to Orlando for 5 days. We'll be going to Epcot and maybe Magic Kingdom this year.
The good thing is we'll be able to pay everything cash and not owe like we usually do. I think I'll actually be able to enjoy our vacation this year cuz I know I won't be coming back to new credit card bills.

I got my return yesterday! Nice extra b-day present. ha ha
I like getting the checks, rather than direct deposit. I like to hold my money first
Answer:
We got ours a month ago (I am a nerd, and I like to do my taxes) and it went straight to bills. At least my husband's credit card is paid off and it is now cancelled!! YAY! We still have a little bit of debt to go, but slowly...we will get there!
Answer:
It feels so great to be able to pay extra to our bills right now and also to know that we're going on a vacation and won't be coming home to extra credit card debt. I know that I should pay more off but we really need a vacation and we're not incurring additional debt to do it this year. After my dh got his bonus in January we realized how nice it was to pay cash for things and pay off debt and not see it again. We still have some large debt (car and 2 credit cards) but at least we send more than the minumum each month and as I posted earlier this year we were able to pay off some debt, our dd's tuition, buy a couch and kitchen table, put money in savings (emergency fund), and save some for a vacation, with my dh bonus, now the tax return will be going towards the debt, as we already had the money set aside for the vacation.
I have to say that for any one else living in debt, the best thing we did was to put the credit cards away. I took them out of our wallets several months ago and even though we still have balances we are not adding to them. I have taken a lot of the advice I have read here and always think before I buy. For the first time in 8 years of marriage, which started out with so much of my dh's debt, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Sorry this is long I'm just sooooooo happy to be going on a vacation in 2 weeks and just knowing there will not be the stress that we usually have. We have learned not to be so careless (with the money) and my dh is FINALLY starting to see that we should by our own home. Our goals are now in sync and it feels great.
