Ask:
I received the following note from my 2nd graders teacher:
Did you know that:
The brain is 78% water.
Dehydration is common problem that is linked to poor learning.
Learners, in order to do their best, need water.
I would like to help students do their best. Please send a water bottle to school tomorrow with your child. It will be helpful if the bottle has a cap of some kind. I will be encouraging students to drink water throughout the day. Responsible students will keep the bottles at their desk and fill them during the day.
Thank you,
Mrs. X
I think this is great! I sent a sports bottle with my son. Only he is so stubborn, he says he won't use it I think the whole idea is great though!
Answer:
My kids take water bottles too. I think it's a great idea.
Answer:
That is a good idea! It will also keep them filled up and maybe not craving a"sweet snack" like cookies and such when they get home from school!
Answer:
My DD's take one to school too, except they take it beacuse the iron is very strong in the school well water and makes the water taste really icky :hurl:
Answer:
Makes sense to me! I have a water bottle with me all the time.
Answer:
My DGD's kindergarden teacher last year said that we need water every 45 minutes for our brain to function at its best. I had never heard about it till then. The kids in her room were allowed to have a container with water in it (with a lid) all day the whole school year.
I drink lots of water and I thought it was a wonderful idea.
Answer:
My son acts up when thirsty, so we mentioned it to the teacher. Yet, when he takes a bottle in - he always has one - they make him keep it in his backpack. I will bring it up again. I think part of it is that they don't want the kids going to the bathroom all the time. It's very dry here!
Answer:
That is a really good idea, I wasw ALWAYS thirsty in school and we always got like two trips to water fountain a day and that is NOT ENOUGH.
