The boys haven't had any problems so far, and they will be taught the proper hygiene for it when the time comes.

It various depending on what State you live in for a local anestetic. Also there are 3 or 4 diffrent methods if how it is done now also depending on the state you live in. I only have a dd but did a lot of talking to my OBGYN when I was expecting just incase she was a boy and what procedure I would have liked done and what one I didn't want done.

This is exactly how we felt and that's why we didn't do it either!

That was enough to tip the scales. Plus the whole "like father like son" thing.....

There was just another HUGE well controlled study on this issue with the same findings. Uncircumsized men in this study were much more likely to contract STDs including HIV than were circumsized men. My Dh also had an uncle who developed cancer in his foreskin and it had to be removed. I know it is not neccesary but these things did tip the scales for us too.
Answer:

The largest likelihood of contracting STDs is from having sex w/people who have an STD. There are plenty of circumsized men who contract this. Also, isn't having painful circumcision done to prevent disease the same as removing a woman's breast to prevent cancer? We wouldn't do that at birth. Or remove any other part of our body to prevent disease. It just doesn't make sense.

No not at birth by I do have a friend that a double mastectomy at 14 or 15 because of the breast cancer rate in her family. So it is done but you are right not at birth.

None of my brothers have had it, and I wont do it either unless its necessary. However when I asked my brother about this comment - his answer was "just wash your willy", and bath regualary - whether you have a willy or not.
Answer:

It wasn't even discussed, we both just assumed we would do it.

Our reasons were because:
1) it's healthier option
2) they will look like daddy
3) our insurance covered it!!!
Answer:

We had our son circumsized.
