How often do you weed through your children's books?

Ask:
I am thinking it is time!! I have an overwhelming number of children's books! (Go figure!!) I am going to have each of my kids pick just 5 books a piece this afternoon...and then I will have them bring them to their teachers tomorrow to either donate to the class or maybe even the library. 30 books doesn't sound like a lot, but it is a start...and I am hoping that when they get to doing it, they will find a few more than that to give, too! What about YOU? Can you declutter in the same way, and at the same time be donating to a great cause?!?!?
Answer:

What a great idea. Our house is over run by kids books. I use to buy them by the box fulls at the thrift stores for a couple bucks each. I did weed through a lot of them about 6 years ago and got rid of what the kids didn't like and just sent them to the thrift stores, but it really didn't put a dent in what we still had.

Have started the process again, but instead of going through them all, I have just been eliminating the ones that are too young for 4 yo. Of course I just went through and did the same with the toys, getting rid of anything under my 4 yo as she is the finality to this house (I pray, I hope and pray some more) and the toys I sent to our church nursery, so why not the schools.

Thanks for the idea b/c I would rather see things of mine go to someone who can really use and appreciate them than someone who is looking to make money off of me.
