Ask:
OK so my house is decluttered. If I do say so myself it looks good. Even my husband is impressed and he's a neat freak.
So the last thing is the garage. But here's the problem. About half of the stuff that I took out of the house over the last 3 months is in the garage. I have old kid's toys, a bike, lots and lots of general stuff, etc.
So do I just pitch it all and call it a cost of simplifying my life? I really don't have the desire to have a garage sale (around here they don't tend to do well). Some of the better stuff will go to Goodwill or Adventist Services.
It's like I look at the garage and get ready to start cleaning and then feel overwhelmed and just close the door.
Answer:
you can sell it on craigslist or give it away on freecycle, donate or trash.
Answer:
don't cave now!!!!
look around your house at how good it looks and think about how good youre gonna feel when the garage is done!!!
List it in the bargain hunter(if you have that in your area)or do you guys have a radio staion program (we have 1 its called swap shop...you advertise stuff your selling or giving away)
GET rid of it!!!
Answer:
I had a similiar dilemma awhile ago. I had tons of bags of stuff from the kids we didn't need and I shoved them all into our garage cupboards and of course had bags around on the garage floor and my husband about had a fit b/c he likes the garage to be devoid of stuff. So I told him to go ahead and donate it b/c at the time I didn't want to do a garage sale. I had a mild panic attack b/c what if I need it again??? Never mind the kids won't fit into any of it again. I was soooo liberated after b/c it was gone. So I say, just donate it!
Answer:
Remember that if you itemize, the tax benefit from donating can sometimes be just as good as the money you make at a garage sale! Plus, you avoid the work. What I did with the last stuff we had in our garage: Give away what you can to friends and donate the rest.
