Ask:
This morning I found these teeny tiny ants walking on my kitchen counter. What is the best way to get rid of them?
Answer:
We have the same problem. Do the ants smell really bad when you smush them? Nothing works on them, the only thing that got rid of our ants was calling a pest control company. We tried like 5 things prior but that was what worked. Until this spring that is. Now we have to do it all over again.
Answer:
We use Terro ant killer....it is a liquid. They are nasty. And we have also called out the pros....it is just that time of year...and especially if it is raining alot...they want to stay dry too...so where do they go?? In your house. Good luck. We fight it every year...and my dh gets so frustrated. The pest control guy told me that they are attracted to noise (??) the vibration in the outlets I guess....so that is where they come in....so put the ant killer there....hope this helps!! They are NOT attracted to food...which is what everyone thinks.
Answer:
Every Spring we spray the window sills and door jams with Raid upon first sight of ants. It has always seemed to work for us. They normally don't come back....until the next spring
Answer:
Ant sticks around the foundation of your home. Also if you know were they are entering in from put a layer of vasealine. They will not cross over it.
Answer:
I clean my counters with vinegar and for some reason they don't like that. My sis gave me some crushed pepper seasoning to sprinkle where they are at. Just be careful around kids and animals it might burn if they get it in their mouth or eyes. Also wash hands thoroughly because you might touch your face and it burn. I did that with a cinnamin glade plug in and also cinnamin candy flavoring (talk about burning). ouch Anyways other than that I would use combat it's the best stuff.
Answer:
Laying a few Bay Leaves also works!
Answer:
I've also hears that putting Cinnamon, chilipowder, or cayanne pepper works at keeping them away. Sprinkle it around your window sills, door jams and foundation. the spiciness is too much for them, and they won't cross it.
Answer:
I need to spray around my house too for ants! I saw some the other day outside! I tend to use babypowder around the house and that helps!
Answer:
I have used the cinnamon trick..it does work! about 4 years ago DD left some goldfish in a goldfish container on the floor when we were living in an apartment and I woke up to find ants teeming out of it I sprinkled cinnamon around the area to keep them contained and called maintenance for some raid (why we had none, I don't know), but the maint guy came and couldn't believe the ants weren't leaving that "circle".
Now in the spring we just treat all around the foundation, windows, and doors with insecticide...I hate bugs.
