Rice steamer?

Ask:
Does anyone have a rice steamer? Are they worth buying? Do they really save you that much time, or is it just another appliance that will take up room. Dollar General had one on sale yesterday for $10.50, is that a good price?
Answer:

Is this the same as a rice cooker? If so, I love ours. I've had two. The first one I didn't use as much because the rice would stick to the bottom of the cooker. Then, I got one that was nonstick and I love it. I used it at least once a week.
Answer:

I love my rice cooker. It doesn't really save you much time but it is soo much easier to cook the rice and you don't have to worry about "forgetting" it and it gets all burned.
I'm not sure what brand it is but $ 10.00 is a pretty good price.

Answer:

I've always considered rice cookers to be a frou-frou appliance but hubby came back from a trip to the Orient and insisted we buy one. He did a little research and we have an Aroma brand.

It is rather nice. I make a batch of rice once a week. For the first day, I plan our dinner around rice. Then with the leftovers I heat up the rice in the microwave for lunch, etc. Sometimes I'll make rice pudding or we'll have rice with butter and cinnamon for breakfast. It is just one of the staples that we have on hand.
Answer:

I have one and I find myself makeing rice more often , so if that means its worth it than I guess I would have to say yes.
Answer:

I really like ours but must admit I use it less often now that those 90 second microwave pouches have come out. I still won't get rid of it even in a tiny kitchen. If you can get the nonstick I'd recommend it. Ours isn't so there's a little waste. I just give quick spray with cooking spray and gently add the ingredients. It soaks in soapy water while we eat and is easy to clean.
