Ask:
Julie's post got me thinking today:
I have a kohls in town but would it be better for me to do the instore specials or shop online?
I can never figure out which is the better way to shop!
Answer:
Well I think it depends somewhat on what you're shopping for. I buy all my books, CDs, movies etc online because I can always get them cheaper, plus I don't have to pay tax, etc. I did probably at least 3/4 of my Christmas shopping online this year. I was having UPS or FedEX showing up at my door daily. There were many days I got 3 or more packages. By shopping around I could sit in the comfort of my family room, search all over for the lowest price and then look for free shipping codes. Worked great!! I even had a friend tell me she'd pay me next year to shop online for her if she gave me a list because I got such good bargains. But there are some things I think you can get better in stores. I've ordered some bras online and been disappointed as they're not comfortable. So no more bras I can't try on. HTH
Answer:
I agree with Aliadam in that it depends on what you are shopping for. If I am buying something for someone that I am going to have to ship anyway, I will buy it online to avoid going to the store and then the post office. If it is something for US I will go to the store if it is available at Target or Sams Club. We don't have a mall very close to us, so it is something that I will have to travel for, I may just get it online...or wait until I need more than one thing and then make a day out of it. I have found on a few things, that it may be cheaper online, but then you pay shipping and handling....so when you compare that to the price in the store it is roughly the same.
Did I make any sense?? I hope so.
Answer:
Yes, I agree, too. It just depends what it is and the situation. So, I do both, too.
If I had a Kohl's in town I would be going to the store though.
Answer:
I agree. It totally depends. I generally factor in shipping. Usually, I only purchase online if I can get free shipping. (I also save my amazon giftcards for bigger purchases). Over christmas there was something I wanted to get DD from toysus. They didn't have any instore so I checked online. They had the item, which qualifed for free shipping, plus they had a discount offer going through google checkout. I got the item for about $10 cheaper than going to the store. So, sometimes you just have to look online and base it on that too.

I voted OTHER. I'll explain.
I use a combination strategy. One of the main reasons I like shopping online, other than saving time and gas money, is when I shop in-store I'm much more tempted to impulse shop and buy things I don't need. Just setting foot in the mall gets me in shopping mode and creates all these wishes and wants I didn't know I had in the first place!
I do like to shop certain stores frequently because their in-store markdowns are better than those I can find online. Namely Target and Old Navy on Wednesdays for kids' clothes. When I do go out shopping, I really try hard to stick to my list. I also try not to shop very often.

I use the online flyers and website to comparison shop and then I will go intot he store and get the cheapest one. I think it svaes time and money if I go on Target, Walmart and Kmart websites and see where the item is the cheapest. Then I like to go in and buy it.
Especially with clothes. I dont know what size will fit, sometimes a large will be xlarge in another store. so I like to try on clothes. Books, DVD's ect I will buy online.
Answer:
Barnes and Noble is MUCH cheaper online (go figure), and a lot of companies run online sales. However, companies also run in-store sales, so the answer definitely is not cut and dry.

This is so true of me! I would shop in store if the store were in town but I often shop online because I like the quality of the company. But I also find I spend less this way because I only get what I need. Great point Kim!
