Ok, now I know it may not sound like a big issue, but I have a real problem. My 2 yr old ds spits! He will take a drink and spit it all over himself, the walls, the floor. He is obsessed! I bought a carpet cleaner because of this problem. I have tried taking the cup away, I have popped his hand, NOTHING phases him. If he doesn't have a cup of something to spit he will just spit his "spit" on the walls or himself. ANy advice? Is it a terrible 2's phase?

A little squirt of liquid dial soap on my dd's toothbrush (also 2yo) did the trick for us. I couldn't believe that I had to wash her mouth out with soap, but NOTHING else was working. I only had to do it once too. She keeps saying that she is not going to spit again. HTH!

We dont know anyone that spits... he lets it dribble down his clothes... he will spit juice on the walls... the soap sounds nasty... but if it helps I may try TIA!

wow i thought my boys was the only ones that did this .... Thank goodness it went away.. I got so tired of the milk wars in the living room .

My dd does this. We just take away her water or juice or milk when she starts doing it. I take it away and put it up where she can still see it and say "If you want this back, you need to use it like a big girl." After a few minutes, I will try to give it to her again and if she does it that time then I put it AWAY and say, "Ok, if you can't use it right then we'll put it away and try later".
Usually this works and she does better the 2nd time.. HTH

my sister had this problem with my nephew and the only thing that would get him to stop was a very little bit of hot sauce on his tounge..... It did the trick he is 4 he got it from a kid in preschool..... my sister just told him the next time he did it he would get a spoon full and he never did it again..... he also gets hot suace for being abusive to his brother or my dd and lying.... i mena just a little my sister will rub the top with her finger and that little amount that stays is what he gets.
