how much do you spend on these things?

Ask:
I'm not really sure which folder this goes in. I've seen a few different ones it could go in. First of all how much do you spend a week on groceries and how many people does this feed?

How much do you spend a week/month on cleaning supplies and personel hygeine items?

How much do you spend on eating out a week?

How much do you spend on extra things like nails, pedicures, waxes, etc a month?
Answer:

i spend $20-$30 a week on food a week and it feeds 4 right now.
for cleaning supplies i spend $4 a month
and hygine i spend $5 a month
i spend $10 on diapers and wipes a week and thats for 2 babies
but everything will change within the next year so i'll i have to budget better
Answer:

How in the world do you do that? I'm embarrissed to say what I spend. I'm new to this site and apparently have alot to learn. I want to cut back but I'm afraid to. Does that make sense?

I spend around 175-200 a week on groceries and that's for a family of 4
cleaning and hygeine about 100-125 a month
extras like nails and pedicures and pampering things about 75 a month.

I need some serious help!
Answer:

Groceries: I'm not sure, probably around $700-800 a month for my family of five. That includes paper products, Costco trips and the regular grocery store. Most on the board spend less, but we eat alot of fresh produce and organic and it's not cheap where i live.

Cleaning and hygeine: ? maybe $10-20 a month ? I'm not sure. I haven't had a period in 5 years now so that has saved me alot of $ on those items

Eating Out: we used to be bad and spend around $100 or so, now we only spend around $25 a week. Which is one casual restaurant (like Ruby Tuesday's or something) or two cheaper places

Extra things: practically nothing, I do my own nails and toes, don't get waxed and have another mom who's a stylist do my hair in exchange for a day of childcare.
Answer:

Your grocery bill is close to mine. I would like to cut it down. I'm thinking of starting to do my own toes. I know it sounds horrible that I have to "think" about it but I've been used to pampering myself for so long it is really gonna be tough. Not sure that I can cut out the nails yet. As far as waxing I only do my eyebrows which is 5 a month.

I want to cut back on alot of things but have a feeling it's gonna be tough for me.
Answer:

i sppend that much on food is that my dh hunts so we have enough meat till next hunting season and i am also on wic so i do not buy milk, eggs, cheese, cereal and juice and my formula. we also do not buy junk food maybe once a month if that we will buy some chips.

i can spend that much on the 5 of us because of the site me and my dh love it

First of all let me ask you a question about this forum. If I want to reply to a specific person do I click quick reply or post reply or how do they know it's for them?

My husband hunts some too. Really just got into it a couple of years ago. Right now we have some deer roasts and steaks and deer ground meat in the freezer but I'm limited on knowing ways to cook it.

Looks like I need to start buying cheaper shampoo and stuff too. My shampoo is around 5 and conditioner about 5 too. I go through about 2 bottles of each a month. And a 12 pk of toilet paper lasts about 3 weeks in my house. Looks like I have alot to learn on here.
Answer:

I spend about $75 a week for food for 3 + a dog. Hygiene maybe $10 a week. We were spending about $25 per week eating out and $10/week each for personal spending, but those budgets went out the window when DH's business went through the floor overnight. My DH didn't get anything hunting this year or our food would about $60-65/week.
Answer:

Only you can decide what's too much to spend for groceries, etc. You'll see on these boards that some people spend such a small amount you wonder how on earth they can eat more than one meal a day. They've simply found a system that works for them. Don't feel bad if you spend more than they do.
In the same vein, only you can determine what are luxuries (wants versus needs) and which luxuries you're willing to either modify or live without. Some advice here: don't give them up all at once. You'll end up feeling deprived and sorry for yourself.
If you're hoping to learn about spending less overall, you've found a great place. I've picked up so many tips! Sometimes I say to myself, "Why didn't I ever think of that?" and sometimes the ideas are so original I'm in awe.
