Ask:
A lot of the Pay it Forward ideas included donating things to those less fortunate. I thought that it would be nice to include them all in one thread. Where can we declutter, and donate our things directly to those who need it most?
I'll start:
Go through your cupboards and donate any canned foods that you haven't eaten or things you've stockpiled and really can't use to a foodshelf.
Answer:
-I give school supplies that I get for free to the school for kids who can't afford school supplies.
-toileteries freebies that I don't use I give to homeless shelter
-Nicer clothes that don't sell during garage sale I bring to womens shelter. always call and ask first, they can't always handle large volume of donations.

We have a local womens shelter here & a home for unwed pregnant teenagers or women. I am taking my maternity clothes to both of these facilities and stuffed animals for the kids.

I do the same with old bedding and towels. Our local animal shelter is always very appreciative of them. I have to admit, it is hard to because I always find someone I want to bring home, but I can't!
Answer:
I have donated baby items to our local pregnancy crisis center before.
I also go through my pantry every so often and donate items that I'm not using to the local food pantry.
We restock the nursery at church with toys from time to time.
Our library also accepts donations of books, movies and CDs to place in their collection or put in the book sale.
We keep a box that we put extra small items that the kids are given that they won't use or play with - Happy Meal toys, pencils, crayons, rulers, stickers, suckers, etc. We add hotel soaps and new washcloths and some other goodies to make Christmas shoeboxes for Samaritan's Purse each year.
Our church camp accepts donations of sporting goods and fishing equipment for the children to use during summer camp.
Our old computer equipment has found use at non-profit organizations. Just contact your local United Way and they can usually connect you with someone who can use your items.
