I did my first completely natural, but I had the epidruals with the rest. However, they only worked on two of them! The other times, I had problems. One only worked on one side, no matter how many times they redid the line. Another only worked for 10 minute increments, no matter how many times they came in to give me more. (apparently I was moving so fast in dilating, etc, it couldn't keep up?!!?) The last one worked...but it traveled up too high, making them panic over my oxygen level..and they cut it off!!! I would still do it again, if I were to have another, though. I figure ANYTHING is better than my first one!

I never found the need for an epidural or any type of pain meds. I guess I have a high thresh hold for pain! 7 kids, no drugs!

with my boys back in the early 70's they knocked you out & when ya wwoke up there was your baby.Then when I had my 3 girls in the 80's,I had them natural.The first 2 I was only at the hospital 2 hours and they were born,the last one was 4 hours after I got there.

After 36 hours of labor and only progressing to 5 cm, (had dropped to 2 at one point) I had a c-section. MY second dd was a scheduled c-section. If we have a third, I'd like to attempt a VBAC. I'm beginning training to become a doula, and there's a wealth of info out there that I had no idea about with my first...or second, really. If I decide on a VBAC, I'll hire a doula, no question.

First I had no drugs not by choice but with about a dozen pokes in my back because she was facing posterior and resting on my spine which made me contract constant for 4 hours straight hence unable to get the epidural in because I was moving all of the time.
The 2nd was epidural just in time. The 3rd was epidural but didn't it didn't kick in until just after she was born!
