Has anyone ever re-grouted a shower bottom?

Ask:
I have a huge walk in shower. When we bought the house, there was mildew in the grout. No biggie..I just thought the previous owners hadn't cleaned it out good. I love Tilex, as it is GREAT on taking out mildew (and getting almost any stain out of white fabrics!). Well, it didn't work, and over the course of the last 18 months, it is AWFUL in there. I know it is clean, as I clean it weekly, but it looks so gross. I asked dh yesterday how hard he thought it would be for me to re-do it, but he just rolled his eyes. So, I coming to you ladies...because we ALL know that WOMEN can do ANYTHING they set their minds to! Now, HELP!!!!
Answer:

Have you tried a Mr Clean eraser? That's how I got mine clean
Answer:

If the Mr Clean clean eraser doesn't work, you may need to re-grout (The eraser is always my first suggestion too Jenny!) .We just re-caulked our master bathroom b/c with the caulk no matter how much we scrubbed it, nothing helped!

I've never personally re-grouted, but it doesn't look too hard....
Answer:

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is AWESOME for the soap scum in the bottom of the shower, but it doesn't touch the grout. I think it needs to be redone. Hmmm....wonder if Lowe's offers a "how to" on that!
Answer:

I just bleach it. Caulk can also be bleached. Just make sure there's plenty of ventilation and you may want to shut the door so the kids and pets stay out of it.

The bleach pens make it the easiest but I've also taken strips of paper towel, wet them with diluted bleach then stuck the towels over the lines or the caulk. How long it needs to sit depends on the amount of mildew/mold- anywhere from overnight to a couple of days.

I just saw that tip in a magazine last month, I forgot all about it! It's worth a try!!
Answer:

Oh no, bleach doesn't TOUCH it, either. I think the grout has absorbed the black stains now. I have left bleach and/or tilex on for 24 hours and not a dent.

Mine are the same in our walk in shower. YUCK, I hate it. It was that way when we moved in. What I have found that works is some white grout paint (I got mine at home depot). You paint it on the cracks let it set for a few hours and then with a sponge wipe the excess off the tile. It transformed my bathroom in just a few short hours. It didn't take very long to paint this stuff on. It lasted about a year and I am just now ready to do it again. If you want to know the name of it I can get it for you I still have a bottle upstairs.

It was really cheap too.
