snaps in baby clothes

Ask:
Hi. I need help. I have sewn two outfits for my son, his baptism suit and now his Easter outfit. I am an advanced sewer, but I despise snaps. I started crying this morning trying to put the snaps in his outfit. I got so frustrated that I finally gave up and just sewed the legs together since it has a zipper anyway. Does anyone know the secret to putting in snaps? I have tried the pliers and the little plastic thingy that you hit with a hammer. Please anyone help.
Answer:

Have you tried the snaps you just sew on ? I haven't put snaps on clothes but I used the pliers thing for snaps on the kids sandbox cover and I know it's hard to get them to "splay" out like they should.
Answer:

Is it a few snaps in a row? If so what about using snap tape? I believe it's made just for baby clothes. They used to carry it at our Wal-Mart, but not anymore since it became a supercenter they got rid of most of the fabric and notions. Anyways, try there or Joann's, they should have it. It's just two strips of cotton tape, maybe 1/2-3/4" wide with the snaps already put on it and you sew it into the clothes, like you would sew in Velcro. Very easy! HTH!
