Mobiles

Ask:
Okay ladies who used one, when did you put it up, how long did you leave it up? Opinions, advice, anything. lol

I've been looking for a black and white one and can't find one anywhere. Besides I didn't even know for sure if I needed one. Thanks.
Answer:

I have one of the Symphony in Motion mobiles (plays Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach). LOVE IT! I only used the mobile part for the first couple months with both my boys...probably longer with my younger son because his crib was at the lowest setting from the beginning so I didn't have to worry about him being able to reach it as early (the instructions say to stop using around 3 or 4 months of age I think - when the baby starts to try and pull on it). However, the mobile detaches from the music part which you can then leave on the crib as long as you want. I still have it on my 18 month old's crib - he loves the music (my 3.5 year old used it for a couple years too so it's been well used). It is pretty pricey though. $50 when I bought it 3.5 years ago. Don't know if it's still that expensive these days.

I wanted to add that you probably don't technically even need a mobile BUT my boys seemed to enjoy having something to look at and listen to when they were still too young to hold and play with toys on their own.
Answer:

You don't need one, but they're awesome. We had the ocean wonders one for our 2nd daughter. It had great music and a light show. It put my DD to sleep every time she heard it, i swear. Also, ones with remote controls are FAB

DD still has her up, although technically they tell you to take them down when the baby can stand.
Answer:

You don't really need a black and white one - they start to see colors very soon. They also advise that you take it off around 5 mos when baby can sit up on their own, as they can pull it down. I did keep mine up, then later, I hung it from the ceiling. Infantino makes red, black and white toys and mobiles - babiesrus was carrying that brand. What is fun is One Step Ahead had a travel thing that is for rear-facing babies - it slips over the headrest and hangs down. It's in black, white and red. It has cards that you can move around - baby can see 4 at a time. It's pretty cool.
