"My Favorite Project" A Diaper Cake by Missystuy!!
Diaper Cake
To start you will need:
1 package of size N or size 1 diapers, any kind (I like name brand better, they roll better)
1 bottle brush, ribbon, a baby blanket, and any other thing you can think of you might want to include for the new mommy.
I actually purchased elastic (you know that kind you use in sewing for a waistband). This is important because you need the diapers to stay tightly rolled and this will expand as the cake layers get bigger.
Firstly, you ROLL each diaper and tie them together for your first cake 'layer' (as seen in the first picture). Stick the bottle brush in the middle of the bottom layer. Then you do the top layer and you put it on top of the bottom layer and push the bottle brush through it, this keeps it together.
Now take the blanket and wrap it around the bottom layer nicely and smoothly, then tie it very tightly with ribbon. You can do the same with the next layer if you like, its all up to you how you want to decorate your cake!
Once its all together, and tied with ribbon, now you add all the odds and ends onto the cake. I like to put a thermometer, nail care stuff, a medicine dropper, a baby gum toothbrush, pacifiers, a bottle or whatever. I tie a stuffed animal to the top to make a topper. On this cake I also made the socks into little rosettes by just rolling them and pulling the middle out slightly. (picture #2)
The third picture is a three layer cake!!
So as you can see, there are NO rules when you make something like this. Have fun and ENJOY!
