? about coupons

Ask:
I got thinking about the lady on Oprah today whose $187 grocery bill went down to $3 after coupons. She could only do this if she used multiple coupons on the same item. Then I went to look at my pile of coupons and every single one of them said, "LIMIT: ONE COUPON PER PURCHASE" in bold. Is this just a Canadian thing? It's cheaper for me to buy generics then brand name with a .40 cents off coupon. There is no such thing here as double coupons days either.

Can you use more than one coupon for the same item where you are? Just wondering.
Answer:

I dont know of places that use double coupons either (I was thinking the same thing when I was wathcing oprah)

The other thing I come across is the things I buy I never see coupons!! just the things I dont need!!
Answer:

I know eh? We could NEVER save that much $$$ here in Canada.. But I know i've read in the U.S. they have double, and even triple coupon value days, etc!!! I'd kill for that! lol!!
Answer:

here in the U.S. the coupons say the same as yours, I'd like to know what store she's using to use two on the same item. My store does double coupons-no triple, but I only use coupons for something I need or if there's a good sale. Like a buy one get one free I can use two coupons because I'm purchasing two items. I never use a coupon on a non sale item, generic is cheaper
Answer:

I'm in Md and I know of no stores that double let alone triple a coupon. That would be nice though.
Answer:

One coupon per purchase means you have to have one of the item for every coupon used. Basically one coupon = one bag of chips, four coupons = four bags of chips. If the coupon says One coupon per purchase per customer or household, then you can only use one per physical visit to the store regardless of how many of the item you buy.

I have been wondering the same thing as you all. I think that I have seen this lady before & I have also wondered how she is able to save that much on her groceries with coupons. I use coupons-but I do not know of any stores around here where I live in Arkansas where you can use 2 coupons or 3 coupons on one item. I too want to know where she is shopping-because I would love to save on my grocery bill like she does. If this is the same lady I saw in her pantry that she buys a lot of name brand stuff & I don't. Wonder what her secret is? Wish we could find out.
Answer:

LIMIT: ONE COUPON PER PURCHASE

This means that you can only use one coupon for every one item you purchase.

Generic example - $1 off coupon for Kleenex - I have 3 of these coupons - I can buy 3 Kleenex boxes and use three coupons. However, I could not use these three coupons and only purchase one box of Kleenex.

However, some stores have limits on how many coupons for the like item you can use.

Example - My local King Soopers (Kroger) will only take 3 like coupons. So if I have 6 coupons for Kleenex I can only redeem 3 of those coupons at one time in one transaction.

I didn't watch this show so I'm not certain who this woman was but I have a feeling it was Terri from Grocerygame

I am a member of this site and I know it MORE than pays for itself.

I have literally walked out of the grocery store with paying pennies on the dollar for items and have done so at stores that do not double coupons.

This past weekend I brought home 3 packages of Scott extra soft 4 count toilet paper for free from a non doubling grocery store.

Love it!

Answer:

We are pretty lucky here in the Charlotte area as several main chain grocery stores double coupons everyday. Plus, every two months or so, one of them will run a triple coupon weekend. You should see the stores on those days.....dozens of women all with fists full of coupons roaming the aisles, everyone checking out each other's carts to make sure you haven't missed anything. I'll have to admit, I get pretty excited on triple coupon days.

When I was in college and worked as a checker I saw many a old ladies come in and save this kind of money and just pay a few bucks for over a $100 in groceries. They are like bandits. lol They clip coupons for stuff thats on sale then come in when its double or triple coupon day (I worked at Tom Thumb) and would RAKE in the savings. I was probably only 19 then... but thats when I started clipping coupons!!! lol
