I don't know if you can do a direct deposit to it, bc acct in ING has to be linked to an account in a regular bank. Also, I don't know if you can write checks out of ING acct.
Basically, it is for savings purposes. The rate is great.
I've had it for about 2yrs now, let me know if you need a referral and you can make $25 for just opening an account with them. No minimum balance required.

We've had accounts with ING for a couple of years now. I don't know about setting up a direct deposit into it, but you can set up an automatic deposit out of your bank account. We've set it up to deposit weekly before and it was simple to change it when necessary. Also, we've been able to withdraw money in about one to two business days when we needed and it was deposited directly back into our bank account. We haven't had any problems.
The interest rate with ING is higher than the banks in my area and it seems like I get an e-mail from them every couple of months telling me that the rate is going up.
