Ask:
tin foil, baggies and such? I was just reading the Tightwad Gazette and she says that she can use the same piece of tinfoil for years!!! Does anyone else actually do this?
Answer:
No! I have to be honest, that kind of grossed me out. I just don't know how clean you can really get plastic baggies? Even if there were just goldfish in that baggy, the thought of someone's or many someones hands going in and out of that bag makes it icky for me. No, I'd rather spend a little money on sturdy plastic containers that can be dishwashed in very hot water, and reused over and over again.
Answer:
No- I have to say I can not bring myself to save in this way.
Answer:
I second and third the idea that this is sort of gross. Why not just use containers that can be washed properly? I've had the same ones for 10 years, I'd say they have more than paid for themselves. Good to wonder though. My husband's uncle reuses paper plates and paper towels...we don't eat at their house!!!
Answer:
I do, but nothing extreme.
If it's tinfoil that covered a baking dish, yes that I will reuse. little or nothing is usually on the tin foil, I don't scrub things thou. Not every peice I reuse, but if it's basically clean already... why not?
baggies - some I reuse. The baggies I keep my produce in usually gets reused. A quick swish thru soapy water and then rinse, turn inside out to dry and good to go.
I don't do this with small snack bags or sandwhich bags, but the larger quart and gallon bags, yes.
However, I do not reuse if the bag had something in it that rotted or spolied in it. Nor do I use reuse the bags I freeze in or keep raw meat in.
If I had to give a general statement I would say I reuse 30-35% of my plastic baggies.
However, I have moved more and more away from using them at all, a box of bags, any size will last over a year in my house.

How on earth would you reuse paper plates and paper towels
Answer:
Nope
Answer:
We try to use plastic containers rather than plastic baggies, but if I use baggies for pretzels, cheerios, cookies or such I will re-use them rather than wasting them. I don't really see an issue with common sense re-use. But, I think holding onto the same piece of tinfoil for a year is a bit extreme!! I'd worry about germs, as well as storage issues. At least on the roll its nice and contained and you can tear the size you need rather than having to sort through odd pieces to make sure one fits. Not sure I get that. . .
Answer:
foil, no
I have reused baggies that had crackers, goldfish, pretzels and other things like that in them.
Answer:
Nope...it's a bit much for me!!!
